Changing out the fairing stay. How much of a pain is it to do?

Just got a new fairing stay in hope to fix my fairing alignment issue. I haven't been able to find anything about swapping out fairing stays while searching, but it doesn't look too bad. The only thing that looks like it's going to be a pain is getting the all the wiring and whatnot from between the brackets. Assuming taking a grinder to it won't be the best the idea.

So what's the best way to take this on?

Honest to god it is a pain in the butt. I broke about 4 of the fairing 'stay' pieces simply trying to yank the thing out of place. The little black circle ones that attach the two cowlings together (on the bottom) are also a little figgidy. Make sure to stay organized when removing all of them and remember what goes back where (take pictures). The wiring isn't fed through the plastic, it's only held on by just being wrapped around some little plastic catches on the fairing, you will see them when you pull it off. The only thing in the way is the indicator which simply disconnects.

I took a bolt cutter to mine in order to remove the wiring from within the brackets. Removal was fairly straight forward after that since I had the entire front removed anyway.

Replacing the stay was just the reverse. I had to clip the bracket again the replace the wires and then reconnected it with some thick heatshrink over both halves. I did clip the top to not have the wires cause strain on the bracket.

If someone has an easier solution I am interested as well.

I acutally lost the black pieces, so those won't be too much of a problem. Haha.

I was just thinking about bolt cutters, but wasn't too sure how effective they would be.

Since you clipped the brackets, you didn't have to remove any wires, right? As in not unplug anything

Nope, nothing unplugged. Wasn't that confident at the time to try removing the wires so just removed the stay from around them.

Er was it a bolt cutter? Now questioning my memory. I know we cut it just suddenly not sure how. May have been a Dremel with a cutting wheel. Err...
