Is white.....?
I am going to look at an 08 with minor scrapes to the fairing on one side. The entire bike is white with black frame. No graphics. Is this a factory color? I suppose I could either paint it or apply graphics if I don't like it. Jack

Pretty sure the only year that you could get white was in 2011, and that was the special edition with added graphics.

No, white was not an 08 color.
All frames are black. It's either been painted or that's new bodywork. You can tell if it's paint by looking at the backside of any panel (which will be overspray of the original color because they don't mask the panels). If the tank is white too, then it's probably been painted. In the real world nobody paints bikes unless they're trashed. If the guy tells you it's OEM he's lying. Look for signs of additional crash damage (scrapes to bar and lever ends, bent shifter, scratched ends on the footpegs, etc.)

I could have sworn white was an option on one of the years, but a quick search only came up with the SE that Ryan said

Check the title- assuming he has it- the factory color has to be listed.

My recommendation is to only buy completely stock bikes. Any paint job, no matter how good, will reduce resale value over factory.
It just says crashed or thrashed. That is the received wisdom on the psychology of selling, people don't want to spend big bucks on anything with even a tint of cowboy. |
