Blacked out windscreen- WHY

This might be a stupid question by why do most people black out their windscreens on their bike? Is it for the style??

Because they look better. You can't get low enough to look through them anyway.

A lot of sport screens on some bikes are tiny and low. They are there more for air deflection than ever being looked through.

Many people paint them black to keep sun and glare off the instrument cluster so it is easier to see in sunlight.

Painted mine black because it looks better

As others have pointed out, you're not looking through the windscreen anyway. It's there to direct the wind over you.

Is it stock height or touring/double bubble type? I could lay flat to the tank and still not be looking through the stock screen.

Well, I'll have to tip my hat off to my svelte figure that I can peer through my windscreen. Although I must say it 99% of street riding situations I don't look through it.

Almost painted over mine. It's all clouded and scratched to hell anyway.

You're not looking through it.

I have a blacked out screen and it is definitely for looks... But like a few others, I tried lying down on the tank and there was no way I could see through it in full tuck anyway...

It's going to depend on what screen you have if you're able look through it or not in a full tuck.

The solar heating of the black windscreen causes the air above it to rise and reduces the airs density enabling the rider to slip through the air better. It's worth at least 5hp. Also this is why black is the fastest color.
