Sprocket swap tweak needed ?
Went from stock to 15/41.
Noticed that brake line guide hex screw on swingarm is now very difficult to reach as it's partially under a protrusion on the...caliper? (that cast aluminum thing that closes the brake pads). SEE YELLOW ARROW Also noticed that the nice gentle loop of the brake line ( as it came from factory before the sprocket swap)...where it attaches to caliper...is now a very tight loop... What do you think ? Might I remove guide, skip the second loop on the guide. install longer brake line...note chrome hex screw head just behind first loop on guide and the fact that the guide is not sitting tight on swingarm SEE YELLOW ARROW...a longer allen key could fix that but the guide as well as the line appear to be ...it just doesn't look right...or am I concerned about nothing ? Brakes work fine but like i said...it just looks like it's about to explode |

I think your caliper and mount were twisted before putting them back in place. You'll have to take the rear axle back off (or at least out a little) and rotate the caliper and mount till the hose makes the original smooth loop. Then re-install making sure the hose stays it the right spot. GL!

Hmmmmm....gotta go look at it. I see what you mean but...as i recall...the hose is attached to the caliper ( that's what the aluminum thing is called...right?) too tight to rotate it. But...I could be wrong on that.
I'm figuring that because i have fewer teeth and the chain is the same length the rear axle moved back a bit...whic would explain the loop getting tighter. Does that make sense? |

Was the caliper and mount removed during the sprocket swap?

The caliper and the mount were not attached to each other. What I think you're calling the mount appaears to be just a hose guide.,,,stamped steel, 2 wire loops
The caliper hung loose when i pulled the wheel off. When I put the wheel back on had difficulty getting rotor back into caliper so I loosned the hose guides so I could move the caliper around freely. |

Ok so the caliper was hanging free. I'm pretty sure the caliper was spun prior to installing it. Take it back apart and spin it in the direction that straightens the hose back up.
Btw... here's a picture of a caliper mount for future use.

should not be like that. You didn't mount the caliber back into it's groove correctly.

I don't think it's that but here's a pic of how it should look...

You for sure twisted the caliper when it was off the bike.
You will need to remove the caliper again, just rotate it so that the line makes a loop instead of that sharp angled s curve. You dont have to undo the brake lines or anything. Just rotate the caliper. |

OK crew...thANKS for taking the time here...will turn the caliper. As a totally noob mechanic, hesitate to turn or twist anything that doesnt easily move but...yeah...that caliper had to be turned.
Will advise and thanks again |

Maybe the best thing here is that I'm learning to work on machinery.
Literally rotated my wrist...caliper in hand...as directed (thank y'all) and it practically fell into place. What took me hours yesterday, took me 15 minutes today...thanks to you all. eddie |

Yeah,,,this forum is most unusual.
Not only are members polite and helpful but a lot of them really know their stuff. The DIY's go beyond the FSM and someone is always willing to be helpful. Motorcycling didn't used to be like this...it's like having a mechanic in the family. |
