Chain question

The 08-09 Ninjette takes a 106 Link O Ring chain--a 520SR, to be exact. I have been reading my shop manual, and the chain removal process is quite elaborate--necessitating the removal of the swingarm, shock, etc. Sounds pretty elaborate to me, not to mention labour intensive. Is there any reason that the chain to be replaced cannot be broken with the proper chain tool, that a master link be added, the new chain be pulled through, and then put together with the appropriate master link? On the older bikes I have ownrd in the past, that was the procedure. Is there a particular reason that Kawasaki wants you to use a "continuous" 106SR O ring chain? Can a 520 X ring chain be used on the Ninjette?

just cut it or break it with a chain tool. i've used a dremel to grind links off before.

if you're replacing it then get a rivit tool so you have a good masterlink on there. if you don't have a rivit tool, then get it all together, put your bike in the back of the truck and go to your local MC shop and see if you can get someone to do it real quick.

you can use the clip style link, but they're not really the safest thing to use on the street.

Broome, Thanks for the comeback. I`ll get a rivet tool for the 520 chain. I have one for my bicycles and use it all the time. An MC chain can`t be that difficult. I really needed to know if the Quick Links they sell are safe--and appearantly they are not.
