Questions on valves.

So I adjusted my valve clearances to the loosest possible while still being "In Spec" My engine is pretty loud. Will I cause any damage like this?
Both the Intake and Exhaust clearances are at their max clearances.

Also, I have Idle screws turned ALL the way in on my carbs, how do i know where they should be adjusted to? Bike currently idles, but is very laggy with throttle response.

What mods, do you have on your bike? full exhaust, slip-on, stock intake, stock intake without snorkel, aftermarket oem style air filter? or Pod filters? Shimmed needles?

Generally 2.5 full turns back out from bottomed out is a good starting point for the idle mixture screws.

I've got a manual chain tensioner because i broke my last one. It is taking up the slack so its i think the valves themselves making the noise.

100 main is way too rich for stock setup like yours. The drop in air filter doesn't make much difference

When you said loud, what do you mean? Did you cover up the KLEEN air system?

You only need a 98 main jet and no shims under your washers with a stock airbox with the snorkel still in. I have a dyno sheet to prove this.

Clean your shim buckets, my mates car engine was making a ticking a noise and it turned out to be dirty tappets.

I am having a world of problems with this bike.
I can only get it to idle, and no amount of throttle manipulation can get the bike to rev up any. Could the main jet affect it like this? I even put the stock needles back in an nothing.

Are you positive that the diaphragms are not torn and all the jet and air orifices in the carbs are clean and clog-free?

It does not rev up. I am manually opening the butterflys with my finger. It will die if i slam the throttle shut, but does not rev up when i open it.

Diaphrams are not torn
