Motorcycle popup camper for a Ninja 250
There are lots of popup campers out there, but they are mostly for big cruisers or touring bikes. Anybody know of one suitable for a Ninja 250?
This is an example of what I am talking about...

primitive style camping or motels is better suited for our bikes

Ehhh, I'm not sure the ninjette is really going to do well with towing.
You might look into massive saddle/tail/tank bags and a small tent? That would be fun |

Probably couldn't go very fast with it. I was wondering if anybody has heard of anybody actually doing it. I have a two man tent that I can pack, but there isn't much room for the rest of the stuff you need - including clothes and sheets. Actually, the label says its a 5 man tent, but they would have to be no older than 3 to get that many in there - and then packed like sardines.
Anyhow, it would have to be really big bags to haul everything.

my tent is a "2 man" tent, but if I were to be stuffed in it with another person, it had better not be a dude...
Take another rider with you! That way you have 2 bikes to carry supplies. |

I'm going to take inflatable mattresses to sleep on. I think a sleeping bag would be too bulky.

Ive seen a couple smart car owners haul those type of campers. Honestly if you are not going to do it often (once or twice a year) I'd just sleep in a hotel room. Hot shower/ AC.

Those trailers are a little beefier than a tent, but they cost about the same as a new Ninja 300. Even at $100/night Florida rates, you can stay a lot of nights before it pays for itself. Plus there aren't a lot of places in Florida where you can camp for free. Key West runs about $43/night for state parks and $85 for KOA's.

I don't see why you couldn't use this on our bikes. You'd probably have to go slower, you couldn't drag knee, and you'd have to figure out a way to secure it, but no reason why you couldn't pull one of these and still hit reasonable speeds.
Hell, bicyclists pull trailers and campers all the time. An extreme example: |

Well, a low weight capacity, a tiny bike (which might weigh less than the trailer?), and a whopping 25-29 hp might be reasons that you shouldn't tow a trailer with a 250.
Not to mention, I'm pretty sure the owners manual says to not tow things. |

Hammocks are the bomb. I vote for this option!
I love just swinging to sleep underneath the trees. When does summer start? |

Sounds like you are already planning to move. My parents are from Ohio. Father ->Cleavelend, Mother -> Ironton, I was born here in FL so I have only seen snow when I lived in Oak Ridge, TN on a job for two years.
You can ride year round here in Palm Beach, but in the summer it rains a lot and doesn't make for that good of riding. Winter has a few bad days where it gets below 60F. A humid 60F in FL feels like a dry 30F in TN. Another bad thing about here is that there are a lot of older people driving that can barely see their own car much less a motorcycle. That, and all the jobs are in CA. Anyhow, I'm planning a camping trip down to Key West with a friend in a month or so. I've heard they are pretty snotty down there so we might go somewhere else instead. We haven't really decided yet, but it will be somewhere in South or Central Florida.

I hate snow so much. I'd like to live in sun all year and maybe fly in once a year for snowboarding and leave two days later.

Yes, I'm planning on it. The snow belt in Cleveland and the secondary snow belt just south of Cleveland are no place to be riding.
A bad day is one where it drops below 60? bah. Anywhere near 60 is a good day for here!! It made it up to 75 on Wed and Thurs this week, and I swear, all of campus was outside. I did back to back 30 mile rides, one wed and one thurs because there's no way I'm going to miss sunshine on a bicycle. Sunshine and 75 in october? hw can wait! |

While it doesnt get the cold here it makes up for it with 95°F summers. Plus like today we have gail force winds out there. I just got back from a 40 mile ride to the dealer to see thr new Ninja 300. The wind knocked me around a bit but it was good to get out for a bit.

I don't mind 95. We had a solid 2 weeks straight of 90-95 and humid this summer. Everyone except me was complaining. I'd rather have hot and humid than cold and rainy/snowy.

Say goodbye to the twisties up there then. Down here an occasional roundabout is about as twisty as it gets. I know a few good curves, but they are miles apart.
Oh and on the 300, I sat in the seat and it felt like sitting on hard steel. Way harder than the pregen. They had a CanAm Spyder and that had a super nice seat. If you like riding tricycles, it might make a good touring bike. But if I got a touring bike, I'd probably go with a goldwing or something. Those things can pull a trailer camper all day long.

I don't want to be in FL either! Too flat and boring for riding bicycles. Not that worried about flat and boring for a motorcycle; there's tracks for that. But flat sucks for bicycles. That's what I have to put up with when I'm at school.
I'm thinking like NC or TN or CA or something like that. Mountains, warmer than OH, and fun roads/trails for roadbiking/mtb/ninja. |

Well TN is a good state, and like FL, has no state income tax. The problem is that they are a bit shy on jobs. Probably worse than FL. Also, at least in East TN, the sun doesn't shine very much. I never thought I would miss the sun as much as I did when I lived there. Because of that, most of the girls looked like ghosts. Or maybe they really were ghosts - I didn't ask. NC and CA will tax you to death, but there are lots of jobs there - especially in CA. You'll probably like the weather in CA better though. You might also like lane splitting which is legal there, but you'll have to buy a CA approved bike if you do. But the reality is that when you get out of college, you'll end up moving to where ever your new employer is.

Yeah, I think the employer thing is more important than the location thing. As long as I can get a steady job that's somewhat interesting to get some experience, I'll move wherever.
Ladies that look like ghosts? haha I get that for like 5 months of the year in Ohio already haha |

Ghost: No skin color, aka, virtual albino
Tennessee girl (this girl is actually darker than many): Florida girls: Notice any difference? I suspect that the reason the TN girl looks darker than usual is probably related to the abundance of indoor tanning salons and tan colored makeup. I remember the first time I saw one in McDonalds when I went up there. I actually got scared for a second or two until I figured out they weren't really supernatural.

One thing for sure about the black haired TN girls is that they will tan up really nice when they come to FL for a few months.
But I did get scared when I saw one for the first time because I thought maybe they had a disease or something. They were way paler than the girl in the photo - more like paper.
