UGH! It's been TOO FREAKIN' HOT to ride in MD! I did get on the bike last night around 7 pm as the sun was going down to watch fireworks and in my gear I was pretty much dying. Though it cooled down it's the HUMIDITY that makes it unbearable.

I haven't taken a real ride in almost 2 weeks now because of the heat... I did get annoyed and just took my bike out around the parking lot for 30 sec without any gear on. =T I was really considering taking my bike to work today, but with a high of 98, I decided it wasn't worth it.

I've been wanting to ride it to work all week, especially with the holiday making traffic lighter, but I agree: way too hot. Even when the sun goes down it's still too hot with gear on.

I don't worry about helmet hair too much and I don't wear too much make up and I have all I need in a backpack to fix myself up. LOL

I don't think it's a little heat - it's a little TOO much heat is what it is. I only live 12 miles from work but traffic can be hit or miss and chances are I'll be on the bike when I get stuck in traffic!

I live 30 min from work and I wear all black gear no matter how hot it is, and I get to work fine..... It's really not that bad. Maybe try to take other roads where it might take you a little longer to get to work but with no traffic so you dont have to worry about the stop and go? IDK jsut trying to throw some idea's out here, hate to see a bike neglected LOL

There's a lot of congestion around here, being pretty much smack dab in between DC & Baltimore...either way you go, there's traffic. Which is another reason why I hesitate to ride to work...I don't trust other drivers while I'm in a car, let alone on a bike!

You take the BW parkway? That is pretty rough especially if you drive during rush hour and seeming the times you actually reply to me you prob only get on here while you're at work and the times you reply seem to be 9 to 5 so yea i guess the poor little ninjette has to stay home lol

OMG you sound like such a stalker right now -- yes I get online at work! LOL I don't so much at home because the site isn't "iPad friendly" -- the 'mobile version' kinda sucks. We have a laptop, but I sit at a desk all day the last thing I want to do at home is sit at a desk again. I don't travel 295...mostly rt 100 & rt 29...rt 100 isn't bad at all it's rt 29 that scares me the most.

Howdy! I had thought that folks using the iPad were seeing the full version of the site, and not the mobile version. There is an exclusion if the user agent says "iPad" anywhere in it, to not count it as mobile. Is there any way you can take your iPad and go to this site:

http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

and let me know what user agent it returns? I can then add it to the exclusions here so you will then see the full site instead.

I haven't found a way to change FireFox on my Android tablet and had to quit browsing the site with it.

If you want to view the full site instead of the mobile version, more info in this thread:

New ninjette.org style for mobile devices

Just post up your useragent in there, and I can fix it.

I don't know how sitting in traffic and not moving is good experience. The only part that might be good experience is where 175 merges and you have to play "dodge the idiot/asshole"

Better to go do it intentionally first and learn then to do it unexpectedly and panic cause you don't know how to handle the situation imo

Hello everyone, I'm thinking about going to washington, dc tomrrow for the hell of it. Might leave from York, PA sometime <8am and plan on returning <5pm. Any advice/tips? Specific routes/roads? Places to eat and visit while with the bike? I like taking pictures with my dslr and it would be nice to have some pics. Thanks for the info!

Sorry - I was wrong, I forgot I could see it fine just like the desktop on my iPad...I forgot the problem was I couldn't upload or post photos using my iPad.

Is there something different being on Rt 29 at 5:15-5:30 pm that happens at 6pm? LOL Because if it's the same, I def have no desire to try it. I think going home isn't too bad though -- going to work is what worries me. That left onramp coming from Rt 100 to get onto Rt 29 is a little scary, IMO.

Is it really possible to come from NY to DC and back to NY in that time frame?

I would think you might want to stop at Daniel's on Rt 1 because it's an open bar (don't really see those around anymore) and a well-known biker bar but the people are actually friendly though it looks scary on the outside. LOL

I don't know either...that's why I don't ride because I don't want to go gearless. I have ridden a couple times without a jacket, and then I felt naked and weird. And then, I got funky tanlines on my wrists from the gloves.

RT 29 sucked in most parts! Too much traffic when near I695. People just can't seem to merge correctly, that plus all the construction going on was crazy. OMG, Speed Cameras? When the hell did that start? I've never seen em until yesterday!

Yamaha had a demo day at Pete's Cycle on Belair road near Baltimore yesterday, despite the heat it was still really fun. I rode the R6, FZ6R, and the FZ8. The FZ8 was by far my favorite, it was just about everything I could want in a bike.

LOL
I actually live off 29 near burtonsville, And I drive down it to silver spring everyday for work, I dont have any highway riding experience yet, but driving my car in the morning, I dont trust anyone around me, coming home, heading towards Columbia at 5pm on 29, it is just packed with cars depending on where you are,I just really dont trust the cagers around this area yet haha I dont think I will, hence why im avoiding the highways for now

Sorry, I found out about it very last second, late the night before, and I went first thing in the morning to avoid some of the heat, so I was riding in a mere 100 degrees ughh
