Dang, I already set up a meet at IMI on the 4th. Quick question though, do you plan to go to IMI on a weekend anytime soon? I'm starting a project so I'm mostly only going to be available on weekends. How is HPR for someone who doesn't have much track experience? I remember watching the MRA races it seemed pretty technical and you could definitely hit 100 on the 250 on the long straight. I'll work my way to HPR eventually, it is closer to me too.

The only time I usually go to IMI on a weekend in the summer is for a race, too much kart delay.
HPR is a much more open flowing track than IMI it is a great ride on the 250, just get used to getting your paint sucked of in the straights. And although the back straight is long enough to top out the ninja the radar gun is showing us anywhere from 89 to 99 mph, even the lightest bike/rider combos are not quite breaking 100. I don't have a speedo anymore but my phone gps has me @ 95mph. Most times you are dealing with some kind of a head/cross wind.

Only thing thats a downer is the price, 90$ for a half day is a bit expensive vs. $35 at IMI plus its alot closer to me. If I can afford to get a solid one piece suit I would consider HPR.

To any avail, me and ninja are going to be up at IMI on the 4th, to anyone not going to HPR that day, you are welcomed to join us.

Yep it is a bit more expensive. If you get in on a lapper card it can be $79.xx for a half but once you ride there, IMI seems a little lacking.
And usually there aren't sessions so it is open track for 4 hours so you can ride until your arms and legs fall off, IMI you sit and wait for an hour or more at times between sessions with the rentals.

Dang 90 dollars, whew, I would be broke pretty fast considering I have no job lol. Waiting does suck at IMI though...

250 still couldn't get up to 100 eh? Well maybe I'll come see you race sometime, are you in the MRA?

It is pricey without a job, I am in that boat too but it is just so much fun.

I am racing MRA but lack of previously mentioned employment has me only racing light weight endurance on Saturdays.

I am also racing the Rocky Mountain Minimoto 17" wheel class at IMI.

Cool well maybe I'll catch you at one of these races sooner or later.

Man I had fun at IMI gonna have to get me some track pants now. I got leaned all the way over, its time to drag knee (although in reality that won't be for a awhile haha)

New to riding new to area

Hey guys

Just picked up an 06 ninja 250. I'm pretty new to the area as well. It looks like I'm looking for someone to come take my bike apart with me and show me he mechanical ropes, as i figure it needs a full tune. It drove about 25 miles from commerce city to louisville (Almost boulder), but the Guy never even registered it, and said he just didnt have time to do aNything with it. Also after the first rain(i dont have a cover yet) it was having trouble Starting. It also wont start with th chocke engaged, is it good hat it doesn't need the choke ever? I feel like it could use an adjustment or something, maybe just a carb cleaner? I've never been much of a car guy and this is my first bike. But now hat I have something to get me dedicated I know it's a hobby I'll enjoy (working on engines). I'll buy the beer!

I guess beyond that I need a recommendation for an
MSF class. Or someone to give parking lot lessons. I have been reading the MSF Guide to Motorcycle Excellence. I've managed to get it around the block feeling pretty comfortable, but not really safe.

The tracks sound really interesting. I'm going to have to look into that in the next couple months.

Welcome to the forum.
So you are saying the bike will only start with the choke disengaged? Does it run fine otherwise? Probably just need to adjust the choke cable if so. You can look up local MSF courses on the t3rg website. I took mine at fay myers motorcycle world. They will teach you things better than I probably would (its good to get a nice structured education). I don't think any of us that have posted in this thread have pre gens but both bikes are pretty similar to service.

I may need some tires in a couple months. I'll let you know if I want them.

Anybody up for a canyon run this weekend?

I would love to go out with you guys, but I have family obligations on Saturday afternoon that will keep me out of this one.

I am familiar with the South Metro area, Castle Rock, Sedalia, Larkspur, Palmer Lake etc...I ride 105 and 83 a lot.

Ok not quite those areas but close-ish.

So how about something like this:
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=S+...2,3,4,5,6&z=12

Or if you want to go through golden and Luxodave can't make:
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Go...v&via=1,2&z=13

Going to be at IMI tomorrow working with the wife on track with her Ninja. Not really going to be riding very hard because I am going to be riding the 4hr. endurance with the MRA on Saturday.

We should be there @ opening time.

I'm into it. Never been on a group ride or in the canyons, if I'm going to be an inconvenience let me know now and I'll figure something else out.
Also maybe able to bring along another first timer or two. Lmk.

How is your confidence riding? Do you have some good experience with your bike? I notice you just did MSF so do you have some prior miles under your belt? Gotta be careful in the canyons, but I won't be going super fast or anything. I do like to get some nice lean in the corners. Also have to ride the highway for around 30miles (well from where I am) how do you feel about that? I'm riding with another first timer so no problem if you feel you are up to the task and want to come, but you'll want to have some experience riding. Canyon roads can be dangerous for those not ready
