Bolt

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted here, but the time has come for me to leave Ruby behind. Had to make room for the new pony in the stable, a 2014 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec

Background:

late last year my bike started leaking A LOT of oil from the crankcase breather vent hole. I had popped my bike and had a filter on the vent hole, but after the first ride, that thing got soaked and saturated with oil. i changed the oil and rode at lower rpms to see if that would help, but it didn't. So, logically, I bought a new bike

I had been looking at this lovely piece of macinery for a long time. I was torn between this and the fz-07. I still love the 07, but i am crazy about this bike.

the day i got her, had to ride in the rain

^seconded it's pretty much the only cruiser I can see myself getting because it looks cool. Would make a good commuting/daily riding bike

Seconded, I'd get it in green and immediately change out the dash but it looks like a legit bike with the seating position being just a bit more forward than the ninjette

I test rode one of them. Nice bike but not for me at the moment.

Good luck with it!

thanks guys. I love this thing, plenty of torque down low and can handle the highway waaaaayyy better than the ninjette.

Rudy is getting some work done. My father wants to get it running right then have my mom learn on it.

This is my daily commuter, still getting great mileage; high 40s to low 50s so I can't complain.

Since the OP didn't see my Sportster Iron 883 question, let me ask you guys. Would you prefer the Bolt over the Harley? I think I'll be getting a cruiser as a 3rd bike....I'm still debating over these two.

I mean....I do want to own a Harley, just because it's a Harley. On the other hand, performance wise, most reviews favor the Bolt.

Your thoughts?

I'll be test riding a Harley Sportster in the next month or 2. I can give you my then if you want.

Seems to me Harleys are over priced for what they are
My Uncle got a Road King and has had it back for all kinds of issues. After spending upwards of 30k I would expect a perfect bike.

Sorry i didn't see your 883 post.

I did test ride the iron prior to getting the bolt. I really liked the quality of the build of it. Simply top notch. I also liked the matte paint job and the keyless start. other than that though, i prefer the Bolt. It's got more power and felt a lot less cramped. The Bolt i felt was more comfortable and had a better top end.

Japanese bikes are faster, more reliable, can get hotter and rev higher. The choice, for me, seems obvious.

None of which is actually a reason for getting a cruiser =P (not to mention most of it is complete conjecture.)
