Baby Bandit - GSF250V
Bought this recently. It's a GSF250V. Another inline 4 cyl 250cc. I love how they all have their own quirks or designs.
The bandit in particular has the same VC-engine (variable lift on the inlet cam) as its larger brothers. Trouble is, it was only officially imported for a few years here in Australia - 1999 and 2000. No service manual available on the net. Japanese hardcopies available to buy. I actually work for a suzuki dealer here so I will have to make equiries. Had a brief look at suzuki's online manuals but it only has newer models. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e45KZnrCzAE Already been in to have a look around... |

Done a bit to the bandit.
Basic oil service, tyres, pads, brake fluid etc Did the dash backlight globes I also managed to get a scanned copy of the service bulletin for this model... here's a few pages on the VVT stuff. Pretty ingenious design. |

That eccentric bushing's engenius! Toyota and Honda are always having issues with their locking pins trying to tie two rockers on two different cam-lobes together on their VVT-i and VTEC systems.

Bit of an update.
Have fitted a genuine centrestand it (cheap at $110 AUD) and Ventura rack. Have to replace the rear shock now as its' lost all its oil and thus damping on rebound, it's a bit 'interesting' to ride. |

Lots of complicated engineering there. Technically a very interesting machine. How does it compare with a GPX250 performance wise?

I haven't ridden a GPX250, but I have ridden a Ninja 250R... four cylinder bikes are smoother and more powerful and they are pretty bulletproof as well... but if you are going to tinker with them you have to know what you're doing
I can't go back to a twin... maybe a triple... |
