I'm 0 for 2 :(

First attempt at V.A. a year ago and I do this:

Then last Friday, this happens:

Then while hovering over the valves eating pizza the cheese falls off my pizza and into the valves!

Moral of the story: Don't order pizza from PIZZAHUT!

And p.s. - I give up! I'm never doing the V.A. EVA AGAIN!

For bolts or screws that are starting to strip, try using an impact driver. They work!

I believe the ex. & in. on cylinder 2 were off. <--Alex.S measured them.

I used both and it still stripped the damn bolt. That damn bolt would not budge. Alex can testify to that. I was so pissed.

What's really frustrating is you're talking to a guy who's done tons of valve adjustments, minor to major service/overhauls on cars & motorcycles and came out with great results yet this stupid job did a number on me not once but twice!

Now this is gonna cost me big bucks to fix. So frustrated.

not the pizza!!!

i want another crack at that engine out of the bike. i think with more clearance we could really get a good hold on it and put some real torque on it.

you know what this means though... time for a port and polish.

seriously though if you are going to take it to your mechanic keep in mind you can get a different engine for like $500

Hell, you can do the PNP on your own. Opening up the exhaust ports will probably help tremendously

How much HP gain do you get out of a PNP? Worth the hassle?

I hear cheese/pizza grease lining the walls of your intake adds up to 15hp

Also makes a great lubricant, something like Mobil 1 synthetic

I've never seen that. Cool.

It's cool Dean. I'm gonna drop off the bike at performance shop. Sick & tired of working on this bike. Of all the years of working/tuning carbs I sat last night and said for the very first time, "I'm tired of working on carbs."

Fortunately, we don't have to wait too long.

I WAS gonna ask someone for help checking my valves... since in the 15k+ miles on the engine I don't think its ever been done. But after seeing what happens when you guys get your hands on stuff it might just be better leaving it outta sight & outta mind.

Saturday?

"B" bike's all done!

Shop said everything was wrong with the bike - jetting & valve adjustment. Doesn't really pinpoint the source but I think Alex & I were on the right track. I really think one or more valves were tight/closed causing it surge (mid-range) every time I rolled on the throttle.
