Rocker arm for intake valve abandoned its post..

Yes, just as the title states, a rocker arm decided it didnt wanna rock anymore and i guess it just left its pedestal and laid itself down in the cylinder head. I had noticed prior to my exploration into the top end that one valve wasnt moving while cranking the engine, carbs removed looking into the intake runners. explains why it would try to start when fuel was squirted into one carb but not the other. anyone ever have this happen tho? i think i did read somewhere that the valve lash needs to be adjusted quite often in these motors, like every 4500 miles or so? ill do some more research on it and if anyone has any tips or tricks to ease the adjustment process it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I've sure never heard of it happening. Did something break, or did the nut come loose?

This is what happens when adjuster locknut is over-tightened. Breaks off one of two guides that keeps it centred over valve stem. Eventually rocker works its way out. Can also cause damage if jammed into cam-chain or tensioner. Should always use torque wrench.
