Help - Women's Body Protection Gear

Any companies out there making body armor for females on the smaller side?

I just emailed Forcefield with my measurements because their sizing charts weren't very clear so I'll see what they hit me back with.

I'm looking for upper body protection (chest, back, and shoulders only) mainly for dirtbike stuff but also for use on the street. I just bought a Dainese jacket and although it fits really well (amazingly!) I'm not a fan of the shoulder armor and there is no back protection at all. Fox Racing has NOTHING. Alpinestars has this weird "bionic jacket" thing that looks totally uncomfortable and is only purple.

It's been extremely difficult finding gear. I'm a US size 0/2 - Fly Racing 0/2 and Dainese 38/40 fits me. Most motorcycle companies' women's XS is either a size 6 or 8 which is basically useless.

So, can anyone point me to any companies that are producing this kind of stuff either in a small enough size, or a women's specific cut?

Give spartan leathers a call, they might be able to help ya as they custom make a lot of stuff.

ps... It will NOT be cheap.

just checked out their website, looks like they only do back protector body armor. might give them a call though. as far as money goes, from the perspective of looking at the ceiling of an ambulance, $500 or $1000 is nothing. I just got a job. this is the year to up my gear situation

thank you both! I forgot about taichi.. I actually have long arms/legs and prefer my sleeves and things really long lol. but since this is just for upper body stuff and not legs/arms I should be good.

@cbinker yeah I have and it SUCKS. the youth armor is really crappy. it's cheap, flimsy, and not durable, nor does it actually fit the way it should. I may be small but I'm not built like a child - sleeves are WAY too short, necks of jerseys or jackets choke me, that kind of thing.


I just emailed revzilla with this question. they usually have outstanding customer service so I'll see what they say. I just bought a jacket from them, too, and let them know I was a little disappointed in the armor lol

Are street leathers out of the running? Alpinestars has good armor for their leather jackets including level 2 back armor and women's chest armor.

I'm not looking for leathers. I want something to wear mostly off-road. I already have a leather armored street jacket that I like looking for something to wear underneath a mesh jacket or over a dirtbike jersey.

Since you have a jacket that you like, you may look at putting a back-pad into it. That's what I have in mine. We got just the pad itself and tucked it into the pocket in the back of the jacket.

I got the kids size forcefield back armor and attached their regular separate chest armor to that. Got nothing for shoulders though.

If you're looking for frontal protection you might consider a bullet proof vest. I'm serious, they are made of lightweight Kevlar and breath well in hot weather. Especially nice if you plan on riding in Chicago.

A bulletproof vest is designed to catch and deform a small object traveling at high speeds, not decelerate a large mass at high speeds like motorcycle armor does. Think about it, would you rather jump off of a building into a giant piece of foam or onto a big stack of kevlar? Similarly, you'd probably want a kevlar vest if you're getting shot at instead of foam.

They're similar in that both motorcycle armor and kevlar decelerate stuff, but they're two completely different things. The only thing kevlar is good for in a motorcycle application is (arguably) abrasion resistance.

I'm definitely not going riding in a bulletproof vest. I live in Western PA, that's basically an invitation to get shot

but seriously no, I'm looking for motorcycle-approved CE-rated armor.

I agree with you and MrAtom. I was just thinkin'. Hey, I previously posted a response to MrAtom and this website chose not to post it. This website must be affiliated with the Washington Post.

I don't think much about body armor I don't have anything worth protecting. Then you might ask why I wear a helmet.

Thanks for the tip! And do you find their sizing to be pretty accurate?

EX: my euro boot size is 39, which "should" be JP 24.5. My Alpinestars SMX-1s say 39/25, but they're not as snug as they could be.

My wife is 4'11" size 2 and wears a women's size 5 shoe. Its been a struggle to find gear to fit her. Most pants are way to long and the jackets tend to be long in the arms as well. Some manufactures are starting to make gear for those that are a tad bit short. Since she started wanting to do track days with me. We been looking for a manufacture that makes custom suits. Ladies don't by kids out fits they wont fit you correctly. The other issue we ran into is finding a Chest Protector for women. Seems like Dianese did make a ergonomic chest protector for women but now stopped making it. Does anyone have experience with chest protectors for women that want to do track days? For shoes she is thinking either Dianese or Sidi since those are the only ones that come in 36 Euro. If the shoe is to big you can add either additional insoles or build the inside up by using felt to give a tighter fit.

Here Ride is Ninja 650 lowered with Soupys Performance lowing links as well as having the seat shaved. Took her riding boots to a shoe repair store and had them add a 1/2 inch sole to her shoes.

If you are looking for something that is specifically for off-road or casual wearing then must visit the Viking group (Viking Bags and Viking Cycle). Currently, they are running their two sites. One is specifically for bags and another one is for gears. Me and my wife mostly use their items and have a great experience with them. She's 5.2 and casually uses Warlock Mesh Jacket for in-city weekend rides. The jacket fitment on her is perfect and it's also well protected.

My wife is 5.3. She use to wear Warlock Jacket. We both are in-city street riders and don't prefer to put heavy riding suits on weekend rides. Have two brands in mind we usually buy gears and bike stuff from Viking Group's (Viking Bags, Viking Cycle) and First Gear. Have a great experience with them. I'm sure you will find the perfect size there. You can visit them once before going to the famous expensive one.

Not that this has anything to do with finding body armor that fits but I'll throw it out there for your entertainment....
..about 30 years ago I my wife kid and I got involved in a Club/society thing called SCA the society for creative Acronisum . in Reno, NV.
it's a Midevil era group thing that guys run around in armor that they have made and beat each other with Rattan swords a Knight and sword fight thing.
and it was a blast !
sense I've always liked working with metal I made myself 3 or 4 suits of armor and even made one for my wife....
....
I then decided that the gauntlets would be a good thing to have on the motorcycle as well as the vambrace's ! . and I made protection for my boots as well.... I must have been a sight for sure half medieval armor, helmet and normal riding gloves with metal gauntlets over the top ! and shinnie boots
..... the problem was the weight, fully suited up I gained 98 lbs !
in my armor it was good armor legal for the SCA and articulated in every respect.... took a long time to make it too
But having fallen hard in the dirt many times I know THAT IS the kind or armor you really need for dirt bike riding !!!!! not plastic good o'l steel !
