I asked about syncing them and he gave me a puzzled look, so I just said thanks, I'll get them done elsewhere. He seemed puzzled why I would ship them to NY rather than wait 2 weeks for our schedules to coincide and end up with possibly sub-par results.

@choneofakind lets see pics of some carb rebuild/refurb jobs you have done since your such an expert on the subject. @ducatiman i don't think you will have any problems being a successfull vendor on here at all. i thought you were being very patient and friendly to @choneofakind the whole time he was trying to put down you, and your work.

Huh... I was unsub'd from this thread so I could leave it be until you mentioned me.

I was asking honest questions and giving open feedback, just as my work is critiqued daily. Feedback makes us aware of our shortcomings and gives us the opportunity to prove or improve our method. Ducati and I do things differently but that doesn't mean he doesn't have attention to detail and do honest business.

I may not have appreciated his defensiveness and made that clear (again, open and honest feedback) but no attacks were personal. In my opinion, if you're going to post a business in an open forum, you should be prepared for an open forum of questions from all kinds of potential users of your services. He did fairly well, despite you mistaking my thoroughness for a personal attack. Remember, when you're presenting a business online, every interaction you have is a representation of the company.

But hey, agree to disagree; I won't be using his services because I'm capable of my own carb work, but that doesn't mean I have anything to prove to you. He seems to do honest work, despite a few disagreements he and I have. I have no personal issues with him.

You should purchase and resell LiteTek kits for the EX250. They are made from green Viton, you can run ethanol fuel assuming the rest of the fuel system can.

That white residue seems to be more common now with the ethanol fuel. Its the death of most small engine carburetors. Nice work, by the way...

carbs installed

Well, I got home yesterday and had my carbs there waiting for me. I quickly unpacked the box and headed to the carport. I had the carbs reinstalled and actually figured out how to get everything else hooked back up and after 3 tries it fired right up (with a bit of choke). Running like a top now. I can't say how pleased I am with Gordon's (ducatiman's) professional, quick work. Now if my chain tool would just get here so I can go for a road test...

Thanks a million!

I just installed one of @ducatiman carb refurb kits. Very quick shipping and great communication. They saved me a huge amount of time and thus money having to track everything down. Super easy to mount the I-rings, and the button hex screws are supa- nice! Anyway, wanted to send a shout out to tha man, he knows his stuff!

No idea of what chone's prob is.

Is it tacky to ask about prices?
Don't care. I love the colors. That's some serious bling.
What colors are available?
My carbs are clean and tight. How far down do they have to be stripped to do the powdercoat? Seems like it would have to be right to the bare casting.
How long does it take if I were to send you a bare casting?

And, lastly, (drum roll), how much would it set me back?

Maz-

I would forego painting just for the sake of painting....until such a time as carb work becomes necessary. I did these within the refurb process.

At that point, total strip down is mandatory (an actual refurb brings you there anyways), careful prep, masking and the use of common hi-temp engine paint is all that's needed.

Though they look unique.....its not rocket science, Would encourage you to DIY.

Thanks for the tip.
I thought staining would be the big issue so I figured you must use powdercoat or catalyzed paint.
Engine paint sounds too easy.
Well, easy after several hours of prep.

I can attest that not only his work looks great but my carbs that he did were installed and ran spot on with no kinda trouble. Bike starts and runs like new. I did have a new tank and installed new fuel line and added a inline filter too. Thanks again Gordon.

^ ty, 22.

Another members' carbs finished tonight, some internal pics, jets cleaned and innards before and during cleaning process. Last one is a "upon opening"

These *were* leaking, starter circuits clogged, some other minor stuff, all corrected.

They should now be reliable runners, completely renewed to offer a long, dependable service life.

Owners comments welcome. Dammit, I forgot a final, done pic. Needless to say, they came out quite nice, with a full compliment of stainless buttonhead hardware *everywhere* ...I dare say they look quite trick.

a members carbs finished last night, shipped back today

standard refurb, new orings, float valves, major float level corrections.

In addition... changes included a return back to stock jetting from way oversized pilots, mains and needle shims.

I'm curious to hear of running improvements. Owners comments are welcome.

Finished for a member this evening.

Vac hoses between carb bodies trimmed and *tight*. The tiny decel hose was swollen/rock hard ...replaced. After conferring with owner...a couple other issues corrected as well.

Perfect slide action...all circuits clear....as a result...I think he'll be happy..they should be fine runners.

I just refurbished and jetted my carbs myself, and it's running quite well. Do you offer any type of actual performance increasing mods, or just a refurb?

congrats on your refurb. did you split? what cleaning methods did you employ?

Due to individual scenarios culminating in poor performance or failure...some folks choose to send their carbs my way. Careful inspection, correction and setup...in that respect, my service offers a definite performance restoration.

Furthermore, I employ efficient machines which do a far better job than a toothbrush and spray can could ever do ..both inside (places you can't see) and outside (visual restoration as well). As you know, all consumables are replaced to afford leak free, long term reliability.

A clean, affordable, presentable, reliable, well performing product is my goal...all within the framework based on the individual owners wants and needs.

I did not split, just a good soak in carb cleaner overnight, and bushing with carb cleaner, along with replacing all rubber and wear parts, and a dynojet jet kit. Later I vacume synced the carbs. If there was a mod like a taper bore I would entertain the idea (although 30mm carbs is quite big on a 250 already).

The CV carburetors are sufficient for the Ninjette. I know some whom go with mikuni flat slide carbs on its bigger brother the EX500.

I'm not aware of anyone doing that for the Ninjette, and judging by the large amount of track racers on this forum, they seem to stick with the OEM CV carburetors, and just change jets, needles, etc....

For everything from the jet kit to the piolet jets to the carb rebuild kits (I had to buy 4, ripped two gaskets) it was like $250

And both race and street, but just twisties no commuting.

Racer X did before he went EFI in order to get ready for NOS and turbo... He said they were nice, but not worth the money.

I bought a set of the refurbed carbs from ducatiman early this month. We used them this past weekend at Jennings Endurance Races. Friday all day practice. Two 2 hr. Races on Saturday then a 5 hr race Sunday. The Ninjette ran great all weekend with ducatiman's carbs. All we did was change the main jet for the exhaust we were running. Highly recommend! Thanks Ducatiman!!

Hey Gordon,
Have you done work for Canadian customers?
In otherwords; have you figured out the logistics & costs for a Canadian address to ship to you and you ship back? If so; is it a reasonable cost or not worth it?

USPS international is about $43 USD one way to Canada. Rather steep, unfortunately....that is using their "medium flat rate box". I'll inquire for better options (if they exist) at my Post Office in person, please be patient.

If I may suggest....I've shipped complete refurbed carbsets (thus one way only) to England and Malaysia. Buying a refurbed carbset (complete and ready to install) eliminates back and forth shipping (and obvious downtime during repair). Also leaves your originals for spares or for you to DIY and learn. Possibly a better option.

Do I know you from the EX500 site?

That's what I expected. Plus there's probably customs/border brokerage fees etc.
I asked because of another poster with potential carb issues that lives in Ontario.

No; I doubt you've come across me before. I was known as FASTn50 but the years have gone by! I'm new here and the only other forums I've been on are mainly my local sport bike, racing, supermoto and dirt bike forums. As well; I really have never taken apart or self serviced a carb until forced to to clean up my 250 carbs after sitting for a year! One look at jetting charts and I'm in a deep sleep!
