Gas cap lock stuck- Need help putting back together (lol)
So my gas cap was stuck and I drilled a hole and got it off. Now I need to lube the lock and get it working again. I attempted to do this without someone telling me how. But it didn’t work. Now I need to know how to fix it, AND put it back together.

The main issue is you have corrosion inside your lock mechanism (wafers aren't sliding). This is caused by water creeping in from top and settling inside lock mechanism. You need to reverse this process.
1. use vacuum with nozzle attachment and suck out as much stuff from lock as you can. Use tiny screwdriver to slide protective gate to side. 2. spray in PB-blaster to dissolve corrosion as well as lubricate wafers. Let sit overnight 3. spray in more PB-blaster and gently side key down and wiggle back & forth, up & down to free up wafers This should let lock work again. If not, you've got it off bike now. So can take it in to locksmith for professional repairs. |
