Bar-end mirrors

Is anyone using bar end mirrors on their 250R ? I was interested of seeing a picture of a ninjette without the fairing mirrors... for that sleek look..

They're worth it. I have Bar end mirrors on all of my bikes.

Block off the factory mirrors and install some CRG's!

i'm interested in seeing this as well... i've seen bar-end mirrors on fully faired sportbikes before, and i actually like how it looks, but i'm weird.

i'll post up a pic at some point since i actually have some bar-end mirrors, but now that i installed my woodcraft clip-on handle bars, i don't have solid bar-ends to attach the mirrors. the woodcraft clip-ons have these little nubs for bar ends. thus i haven't installed them at this point since they definitely wouldn't stick during any type of riding.

so when i stop being lazy and find the time, i'll install my bar-end mirrors to the little w/c nubs and show ya how it looks. i know, i know, its an easy install... i should get off my lazy butt.

here are some pics after i installed one bar end mirror on the left side, and removed my stock mirrors. it does stick out quite a bit and may possibly limit your ability to weave in and out of narrow spots (i.e. splitting lanes, as well as getting through doorways

). thats why i just installed the one. anyways, lemme know what y'all think.

does anyone know what the law (in CA) is regarding mirrors? do you need two or is one enough? i'm thinking the law requires two...

i can definitely see more behind me and its easily adjustable, it can be angled and spun around, but it just doesn't fold in as i had hoped. i haven't taken it for a test ride yet so i dunno if i'll keep it like this.

btw, they are 'trackside' billet bar end mirrors which i purchased from cyclegear.

i went for a ride the other day with my left bar-end mirror and WITHOUT my stock mirrors... my hands were frozen popsicles by the end of the ride. does anyone know if the stock mirrors with the way they are built (with the bottom portion slanted downward) help provide wind protection to your hands?

anyone else ride without the stock mirrors and experience a significant amount of wind chill on your hands?

btw, with just the left bar end mirror, i can see a whole lot of the left side and behind me, and even some of the right side at a distance, but i have a huge right blind side. and also, with my mirror, 'objects are definitely closer than they appear'! i have to get used to these.

Leo, where did you get those bar-end mirrors? I see you are using the Woodcraft clip-ons, any issues with the mirror hitting the fairing at full lock?

Hi Betlog, I got my mirrors from Cyclegear. They're 'Trackside' Billet Bar End Mirrors, cost about $60 for two.

The bar end mirror doesn't touch the fairings at full lock, so no problem there. It even fits under my motorcycle cover, which was another thing I was worried about. Funny thing, although much smaller, they are heavier than the stock mirrors. They're made of pretty good material, and I'm pretty happy with them.

So I used the mirror install kit included in the package which includes a bolt and two expansion collars around a special nut. I only used one of the expansion collars and placed a strip of rubber to fill in the rest of the space and hold the nut in place as I screwed it in (actually i just jammed it in). Thats the short of it. Anyways, if you need more detail later, lemme know.

CA Vehicle Code 26709 says:

"(a) Every motor vehicle registered in a foreign jurisdiction and every motorcycle subject to registration in this state shall be
equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view
of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of
such vehicle.

Every motor vehicle subject to registration in this state, except
a motorcycle, shall be equipped with not less than two such mirrors,
including one affixed to the left-hand side."

The good news is that you only need one mirror, on the left side.

The bad news is that the mirrors probably don't reflect a view of at least 200 feet *behind* you.

I suppose it could, depending on how you have your stock mirrors set up. You may also look into folding bar end mirrors. Good luck.
