Oooh.... lookit all the purdy colors. Rainbows...
So yesterday I wore my prescription sunglasses for the first time while riding.
The visor polarizes light (it's not "polarized" in the same sense sunglasses are... it's the nature of the beast), so I was getting all sorts of really cool visual effects whenever looking at the sky or any flat surface (car windows, manhole covers, tar strips...). Very trippy. Psychedelic, even. |

Actually I get the same effect with the polarized sunglasses I wear. I love seeing that really, makes things interesting.

hmm actually I was wondering about this, does it affect your vision a lot ? I was thinking of getting a pair of sunglasses or a mirrored visor. I would have to get a prescription too.

Only if your sunglasses are polarized.
The effect is a little distracting at first, but you get used to it really fast. After five minutes I didn't pay any attention to it at all. The odd colors only come from the sky and off of flat surfaces, so most of what you see looks normal. One of the stranger things is that the color you see depends very much on the precise angle that the light is coming from. So when following a car, the side mirror will appear one color to one of your eyes, and a different color to the other eye. Not at all unlike wearing the old-fashioned (red/blue) 3D glasses. Sorry, I just realized that in the OP I didn't specify that my sunglasses are polarized. |
