1.5 inch I think, I'll check on Monday. I had to machine the ID in a lathe to get it to the rite size. Raced it last weekend, worked well.

1.25 inch PVC, actually measures 1.35" ID, turned the ID to 1.40" Trimmed it off to the propper width and shaped it's profile on a belt sander.

Just to update you guys on this.

I can confirm that the R6 throttle tube/sleeve (part # 2C0-26240-00-00) fits without any issues.

I did use some white lithium grease on a bit of the throttle cable and the inside of the throttle housing for lubrication.

Awesome improvement in throttle throw. I get much less wrist fatigue if any now.

I installed the R6 tube when I installed my Woodcraft clip-ons and with the SVRacing rearsets. Feels like an entirely different bike ready for the track. Love it.

Edit

Just to clarify, this is on my 2009 Ninja 250 (this thread is in the "pregen" section after-all )

I also installed an 06-09 R6 throttle tube on my 2004 Ninja 250 without any issues. I was using it the replace the zip tie mod because I wanted something OEM and it has about the same throttle response as the zip tie mod. The throttle tube was $16 at my shop.

I actually have a complete throttle + housing + switch assembly off an 07' R6. Can't wait to do the mod. Tho I'm sure I'll be beefing that up too using PVC pipe. I'm done with zip ties... lol

Your going to end up with an eighth turn throttle. Might as well just tape it wide open and use the on/off switch as a throttle !!!!

It will still be less than the 50mm cam that rojoracing53 and I are using. He'll be fine.

And to think they sell a 53mm cam as well... I didn't want to spend 200$ + shipping for a Motion pro setup, so I figured this was the next best thing. Sort of mid ghetto, considering it's OE, just for another bike... lol Also, from what I hear, the R6 cam doesn't do TOO much for he throw, just 4mm or so... I wasn't satisfied with the ziptie mod the first time round and added a second zip tie. That was perfect for me, but I botched up my throttle + cables in the process. This time it'll be custom throttle cables with the R6 stuff, so I'm hoping it'll do much better.

Nice. I see nothing wrong with using an OE part for another bike. Definitely not as ghetto as the zip-ties.

Personally, 1 zip-tie is that happy medium. If it was track only, I would definitely want a quicker turn throttle.

What's the OD on yours? I turned mine out of a scrap piece of ABS and am planning to do the same to my new ninja but don't remember what my specs were.

Also, belt sander will be way easier for shaping, I don't have a clue why I used a dremel last time

I believe the OD was just the wall thickness of the PCV, I didn't measure it afterword. However any bigger and it wouldn't fit in the housing.

I just want the tube, no grip (as the part number above comes with a grip).

Would this one work? I'm not familiar with R* bikes at all.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/en/landin...alID%3DEBAY-US

Thanks

Off to the hardware store with some calipers I go...

Once I find someone with an impact wrench to get the stupid endbolt off I'll post my original specs. It was a noticeable increase but I'd like to step it up a notch. My next paycheck may also have to buy me an R6 throttle tube for comparison.

Another happy camper with the 06+ R6 throttle tube. Rode Thunderhill yesterday, improved times and had less fatigue with wrist bend. No stiction experienced (but i would still apply some grease).

It was an open trackday and my hour meter showed +5.4 hours.

when you guys say 1/5 throttle, I'm assuming that means that my throttle turn has been reduced by 20%?

what's the r6 throttle?

It takes 1/5 of a turn to full throttle from the closed position.

do you mean 1/5 of a turn
or
1/5 off a turn??

the former would mean that the throttle will only take 20% effort to get to full throttle
the latter would mean that the throttle will take 80% effort to get to full throttle

1/5 of 360 degrees = 72 degrees

a 1/4 turn throttle would be 90 degrees

a 1/6 turn throttle is 60 degrees

so pissed right now I could punch a baby

So I tried the mod just now and everything was going great until it came time to put it all back. I guess I didn't let it dry long enough, 1 ****ing hour, because the tie peeled up as I WA putting the two halves together. Glue got on my cables and I had to abandon the whole project. Finally got it all back to normal, throttle seems to be ok, will see on ride tomorrow. So what throttle tube from another bike works with the 2012 250? I would like a better throttle response without this diy ****!

The zip tie sticks? Sand. Sand everything smooth.

no, the zip tie has been thrown away (with spite) and now everything is oem, but now the throttle is sticking due to leftover glue i'm guessing. I don't even know if I got it back together correctly.

So I just took it apart at work and sanded of any remaining glue, it now snaps back like it should. Learned my lesson on this one

Just bought a R6 2003-2005 Throttle tube and am going to install it this week sometime. Mine cost $12 at Cycle Sports. Please tell me I bought the right one.... We'll find out soon enough.
