2 o'clock last night, 4 o'clock in the morning tomorrow, 3:3am race Sunday, 1:30 am last week, why can't they set these times around my schedule? No, I don't record these things. I like them live!

Well that was a crazy qualifying thanks to the rain. A lot of front runners are going to be starting from the back.

Looks like they are calling for more rain for the race. Hopefully it doesn't get shortened or stopped because of it.

I thought qualifying was at 3:30. I woke up at 3:30 and supercross was on. I had already seen the supercross so I went back to sleep thinking I would get back up at 4. I woke up at 5 and missed Q1 and Q2. I was pissed to say the least.

I watched both Q2 and Q3. It was raining so hard on Q3 that the session was stopped with just over 7 minutes remaining. When it resumed it was a real nail-biter, Weber was sent out on intermediates and it seemed like a lost gamble but he pulled the lap together at the end and bagged pole.

Now he only has to do the hard bit today.

I woke up on time and watched a limited exciting race. Vettel took the lead right off the start, yeah. Louise did a great job charging from 20th to top ten but then became stagnment (thank you Sutil). Mercedes test driver (although fit as a butcher's dog) out in 10. Massa, Button, and Alonso moved up and became a freight train until the last few laps when Massa passed Button, Button and Alonso swapped a few times and then Alonso blew up (he did a great job driving a car that had trany problems). The pits stops are far from exciting. I guess that the new kids did a good job and were having fun. NO RAIN was nice.

I think the look on Webber's face on the podium said it all. They need to nickname Louise to Bubba, get Danica in the series, and have a full course yellow a few times to bunch up the pack. Then the last few laps they need some horrendous crashes. I think more tattooes and less teeth, definitely more Bud, and some announcers with southern accents would captivate me more.

Maybe when the circus gets to time zones that are more attractive to my sleeping patterns will make me more sympathetic. China at 2:30am in two weeks. I can't take it!

P.S. while watching the replay today, it was a better race than I though. Some good passing and funny Team Radio transmissions. I don't think the camera was on Vettel more than 3 laps.

Just kidding, the last thing I want is someone getting hurt being a bigger jerk than I am. It wouldn't be fair anyway, two 1000's showing the ropes to a little 600.

I thought it was a pretty good race. There wasn't much (or any) passing up front, but everywhere else was pretty good.

Friday practice times are up.

Buemi had a spectacular upright failure in FP1 in which both front wheels exploded off the car at the end of a straight. The design was new for this weekend, and both Torro Rosso cars have been refitted with the previous design. (Video here.)

Alonso lost another engine in FP1, leaving him with only 6 remaining for the year. The one that blew in practice was the same one that was removed from the car after Bahrain qualifying when the team was worried whether it would make it (turns out they were right).

Pit crews working hard too. What a crazy race. Nice work to Jenson, and also to Petrov, getting his first F1 points. Some suspect driving by Hamilton and Vettel going into and leaving the pits (mostly Hamilton's fault, and I'm saying that as a Hamilton fan), but doesn't beat Alonso doing the same (and worse) to his teammate.

Hopefully all the teams get back to Europe soon (saw one of the airline sponsors was going to get a flight for them, can't remember who), and the race in Spain can go on as planned.

F1 was a pretty dull race, until the very end. Lewis not getting any points really screwed up my fantasy F1 race haha.

I've been there many times, seen three races, it is the best atmosphere but really hard to watch the race. Next time I need to get a pit pass ( at least some VIP seating).

Michael did make a stupid mistake, but the penalty is even stupider. A 20 second penalty is not necessary for that, just put him back in 7th where he belongs.

Good job to Webber though. I would really enjoy seeing him as champion (I know it's still early, but it is looking that either he or Vettel might run away with things if they keep up their recent pace.)

Also can't believe McLaren made such a brainless error with Button's car. It was actually a BBC pitlane reporter who notified them that they left the heating blanket in the sidepod.

It was raining so hard on Q3 that the session was stopped with just over 7 minutes remaining. When it resumed it was a real nail-biter, Weber was sent out on intermediates and it seemed like a lost gamble but he pulled the lap together at the end and bagged pole. MOTM - Mar '13, Jun '14	I woke up on time and watched a limited exciting race. Vettel took the lead right off the start, yeah. Louise did a great job charging from 20th to top ten but then became stagnment (thank you Sutil). Mercedes test driver (although fit as a butcher's dog) out in 10. Massa, Button, and Alonso moved up and became a freight train until the last few laps when Massa passed Button, Button and Alonso swapped a few times and then Alonso blew up (he did a great job driving a car that had trany problems). The pits stops are far from exciting. I guess that the new kids did a good job and were having fun. NO RAIN was nice. I think the look on Webber's face on the podium said it all. They need to nickname Louise to Bubba, get Danica in the series, and have a full course yellow a few times to bunch up the pack. Then the last few laps they need some horrendous crashes. I think more tattooes and less teeth, definitely more Bud, and some announcers with southern accents would captivate me more. Maybe when the circus gets to time zones that are more attractive to my sleeping patterns will make me more sympathetic. China at 2:30am in two weeks. I can't take it! P.S. while watching the replay today, it was a better race than I though. Some good passing and funny Team Radio transmissions. I don't think the camera was on Vettel more than 3 laps. __________________________________________________ If everything seems under control; you're just not going fast enough! Friday practice times are up. Buemi had a spectacular upright failure in FP1 in which both front wheels exploded off the car at the end of a straight. The design was new for this weekend, and both Torro Rosso cars have been refitted with the previous design. (Video here.) Alonso lost another engine in FP1, leaving him with only 6 remaining for the year. The one that blew in practice was the same one that was removed from the car after Bahrain qualifying when the team was worried whether it would make it (turns out they were right). I heard about it but didn't catch it. F1 was a pretty dull race, until the very end. Lewis not getting any points really screwed up my fantasy F1 race haha. I'm working with Alex to fix this thread, as I can't edit any of the posts I made when I started it (time out after 60 days). I will get it all back in order shortly.

Race results and standings are updated. Michael did make a stupid mistake, but the penalty is even stupider. A 20 second penalty is not necessary for that, just put him back in 7th where he belongs. Good job to Webber though. I would really enjoy seeing him as champion (I know it's still early, but it is looking that either he or Vettel might run away with things if they keep up their recent pace.) Also can't believe McLaren made such a brainless error with Button's car. It was actually a BBC pitlane reporter who notified them that they left the heating blanket in the sidepod.
