I need help choosing the right 250r
Hello all, I'm new to this site. After about 6 months, I finally have enough to buy a new Kawasaki Ninja 250r; however, I'm a little undecided if I should buy the 2008 green, the 2010 green, and/or the 2011 green.
Sure, the 2011 is the newest one, but is their really any difference in the models except for the color? For some reason, I find the 2008 all green to be the nicest-looking. What's your opinion? |

2008 onward they're all the same as far as I know. If you can save money getting a 2008 over a 2011 that's what I'd do.

If you like the 2008 green one, then I think I'll recommend the 08 green one . If you like that color the best then go ahead and get it.

Buy the 08 green one you like. Take the money you saved and buy gear.

Agreed. Get whatever you like. They're all the same hardware wise. I think whichever green I get, I'd grow to love anyways. If you like all color scheme's equally, get the cheapest one. Given they are new or used specs are the same.

+1 for 08. green was at the bottom of my list when i was searching for mine. I thought I might be disappointed with not getting that first color I wanted, but I can't help but smile whenever I see it lol

Had a Green 08 for two years--12,000 miles of trouble free riding. It's a great bike.

Make sure you get the color you really like, if you like all the greens go for the best deal no matter the year. Insurance may be a little cheaper on an 08 vs 11 but prob not much unless you have insurance points (hopefully not), otherwise the same really. We first bought my wife my 250 and she wasn't too into the green, since I have taken over her 250 and sold my other bike and we are now looking for another 250 for her, our favorite color is black but she is checking out the newer greens now too, I guess it grew on her. Just my .02

Brand new 08's still around, and where you can ride year-round? And you couldn't find an 07 of any color anywhere. That has to mean something.
One suggestion if you are new to riding is always start on a used bike. If that's the case buy a used 07 ninjette and never look back. I mean always look back, sorry. You could even buy two 07's, and with like 2-4k miles on them just no green. I noticed you're in Hollywood beware of miami due to the many re-titled bikes down there. Best of luck , I like the green too as it's owned by Kawasaki, all know what you're on. Last futzed with by coondog; January 29th, 2011 at 01:26 PM. Reason: more info. |

The only difference between the models is two things...
1. $$$$ 2. Color schemes I am not a green fan, but I must admit the green with the white and black is pretty slick looking. |

As far as there being different green colors for each year, that is news to me. But a green bike would look great! A definite eye-catcher!

moneys
You can save about a grand and buy one used from a kawi dealer, usually the trade ins are in perfect shape and are already broken in. And if its your first bike you can spend the saved cash on repairs when you inevitably drop it. My 1st bike I laid down within 4 days but I have only laid my ninja down on grass or muddy areas that I shouldnt have been on anyway.
They usually want less for a used current generation 250 from a dealer than the idiots on craigslist and they are likeley to still have a warranty. |

I would recommend a used bike to begin with. It will be less expensive upfront and if you drop it while learning, it tends to be less of an ordeal.
Oh..and you meant black. You want a black ninja 250r.
