What do you guys think?

Tomorrow I am going to look at this bike, what do you guys think?
Price good, everything look good from the pics? Any advice?
How about the lien?
Any suspicion seeing how the bottom isn't red? Maybe the fender was replaced? Or is it a sticker?

For sale a 2010 Kawasaki ninja 250r. Asking 2700 for it. I still owe 700 on the lien. We can do all paper work notarized and documented.

I would not be in a rush to buy a current gen. Wait until the updated 2013 model is released. Current gen models might go for a lower price.

Do we even have an ETA on that? It's basically gonna cost me 1000 dollars to upgrade from my pregen to this bike. I assume the pregens will drop EVEN lower when the 2013 is released, so really i wont be losing all too much. Is that a good way to think about the whole thing?

You're going to want to talk down to around $2,400, but if everything checks out I can't see why not.

The price won't lower. Everytime there's a price increase on 250s the market value of older 250s also increases. Here in Cali people are listing good pregens at $2700 and I'll bet they are likely getting $2500. Thats $500 of depreciation in 5 years

It's an awesome deal if it's never been crashed, however I wouldn't mess with a bike that has a lien

Why is that?
He suggested we meet up with the guy who he owes the money to for the lien, at the bank, and I pay him off, and pay the seller the asking price - lien price. Then we get the lien all signed off (however that works) saying it's payed off, and the title/keys in my hand.

Because that sounds like an awful ****ing mess and if one thing goes wrong you get screwed

If you have cash in hand then they need title in hand. That's the only way I will ever deal with bikes.

I'm not saying everything won't work out but I wouldn't take the chance

So if I can get him to pay off the lien, get the title completely in his name with NO lien remaining, I get that verified at the bank and then we do the normal money for title transaction?

If he has the title in hand there's no need to go to the bank and unless he has the physical title to sign over to you, you can't be sure the lien is removed.

Its a good deal just tread cautiously, you are buying a bike from a guy who does not technically own it

I'll go check it out tomorrow and just don't hand over money without triple checking what I'm doing. Until I get the title with no lien in my hand, i wont hand him any $

Never trust a seller that has enough money to put a fart can on the bike, yet not enough to pay off the $700 they owe on the bike.

i agree,
from a financial standpoint it doesn't make any sense....

now i wonder what other "tough" decisions he had to make.
not doing the 6000mi check perhaps.

Great point. I didn't even look at the bike.

There was also a 2008 black 250r with 20k miles for $2900 asking price. Byron told me to stay away from it because it had never had its valves adjusted. Here's the link!

Save your money for a good down payment on the 2013 model. You can start your credit off on the right foot and make sure that the bike is NOT used. I know you want to get a better, newer bike, but waiting for a couple of months wont kill you! The new model year should be out by September or October.

Also, that second one you got there, notice the red handle bar ends and missing right hand turn signal on fairing? I think this one has been on it's side at least once dude.

For a kid my age with no bills and a full time job, I will have another 2 grand or so by the time the 2013s come out. Add that to a newgen that I could sell and that should be plenty of a down payment.

Buying with a lien is not a big deal. Just let the seller front the loan, get the release paper and then pay him

I bet for another 300$ u can find a 2010 with 3k miles or less

I passed on both of the bikes, and they both sold. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for one.
