Good one... But it does need an overhaul... Its about time... Especially considering the Honda... Although the Honda is sh*t in my opinion...

I doubt it's going to get another overhaul considering the pregen went almost 20 years without significant change.

I have heard rumors that it really will get EFI wth the 2013 model, but nothing substantiated yet.

Like I said, just rumors, but you can forget about all the other stuff you mentioned. Its not going to be a redesign like the transition from pregen to newgen.

The only thing I'm concerned about it that they might take something else away to maintain the same price point. The newgen lost the center stand and a muffler to get the new body style. The Honda CBR 250 lost three whole cylinders to get EFI.

Or worse, they increase the price point.

The rumors are based primarily in the need to compete with the Honda CBR 250. Some were speculating that EFI would be necessary to meet EPA regulations. We'll know more around September.

Well, in the UK they made all their announcements during early October (source). I suspect the announcements will be made around the same time this year.

Are you considering waiting around to see what the 2013 Ninja's will be like? If you are, then maybe pickup a cheap pre-2008 ninjette in the mean time.

You're gonna totally love your ninjette when you get it! I was just out on mine. It makes travelling around so enjoyable. I wasn't even riding fast today: just slowly puttering along in the rain enjoying the sights, the ride and my pretty green (fastest colour) ninjette

I read it thinking 'this will get a good few people', looks like I was right

The 36bhp immediately set off alarm bells, they're 33 to be restriction legal in the EU, that's going to change to 47 in 2013, so 36 makes no sense. They may bring out a detuned 400 to corner the market for class A2 of EU regs in the 3DLD, 395-599cc making 25-35kW / 33-46.7bhp, but that's pure speculation on my part

From what I've seen on the site the carbed model revs slightly higher than the FI

pretty sure all current bikes go to 13,500 rpm. older pregens go to 14,000, 14,500, or 15,000 depending on just how old they are

lmao: I just went outside to look and as I put my hand on the bike, it made an ee-or noise (like a donkey) It's been talking quite a lot recently.

Anyway: the rev limiter is at 15k and the red area starts at 13k. So red line is 13k?

Under load mine doesn't like revving above 11k (It'll go over redline without load, or if I drop 6>5 WOT) granted peak power is @ 10.5k & it has done an indicated 107mph (& may go higher still if I kept it WOT for longer) but when I see people suggesting a shift at 12k or so ...

Mine has a stock FI set-up, no PCIII or flashed ECU.
Carbs are easier to tweak manually, so that may be the case, (or that it's electronically limited to stay EU legal)

Yeah I kind of wanna wait. If I do decide to buy brand new I'm worried that a couple months later the new ones will come out that has an awesome design or color. That's what happened when I bought my ATV. I bought it in July and in Sept the new ones came out with a cooler color scheme. I'm also hoping/dreaming that they will be FI and have a digital gauge. I was thinking about buying a pregen until then. I'm sure I wouldn't have an issue reselling it for what I paid if I can get a good deal. There was a pretty nice looking one that was for sale for $1500 that sold crazy fast.

Nick...you're 16. Why do you spend so much time on this board? You should be out hanging out with friends, go chase girls, hang out at the mall, do some recreational activity/etc.

I'm just saying...when I was 16 last thing I wanted to do is log onto a forum.

Actually, since he got the job and the dirt bike he is rarely on any more (relatively speaking). As for girls, Ninjas are better babe magnets than dirt bikes. Hopefully, his parents will lighten up and let him have a Ninja once they see how well he handles the dirt bike.

Nick seems to be more intellectual than the average 16 year old which is why he is online a lot. Other guys his age just veg out in front of a playstation all day.

Yes, he is definitely the perfect age for it. And strapping a bikini clad girl on the back and riding out into the woods does have a certain appeal to it.

But its still not a Ninja. He can't ride it to school and take a girl back home on it. He can't take her to a restaurant 50 miles in the opposite direction from her parents and still get her home by 11. No freedom of the open road.

I'm hoping that his parents come around and let him have a Ninja eventually. So I think Nick will be riding to school on a Ninja one day soon.

Maybe even a 2013 fuel injected one.

idea. once the bike is warm, hold the clutch, and grab a fistful of throttle to see where the rev-limiter cuts in. It'll go ringginginginginging and bounce of the rev-limiter

@nickjpass you don't even HAVE a tach, where's YOUR redline??
