New Rider in New Orleans

Hey ya'll, just bought a new white 300 and since I had been lurking for about a month I thought it was time that I finally introduced myself now that I actually own my first motorcycle. I'll be picking it up next week but it's going to sit at a friends until I get my license in which could take up to 6 weeks

. In the mean time I'll be shopping for a jacket, gloves and pants. Already have a good pair of steel toes that I like and a helmet. Oh, mandatory picture is attached.

Not sure why it shows up tilted 90* to the left since it's correct on my phone and laptop.

Don't skimp on the helmet and gloves..... Enjoy shopping for gear and such. I always like new stuff.

I may be a cheapass with some things, but when it comes to protecting myself I have no quams about spending a little more money the first time if I get better quality and protection out of the item. Hence why I have 5 different pairs of Oakley's. The helmet is an Icon Alliance(I think) that I got a few years ago for drift days, but 99% of it's life has been in the helmet bag in a cool environment.

NOLA is the best. I love the people, the food, and the town. I've never had a bad time there. I'd live there if you had better weather.

The weather isn't really that bad, it's the oppressive humidity that kills it. With the right gear I could potentially ride year round if I was willing to get rained on or sweatty.

The humidity is the part of the weather I was talking about. The whole gulf coast is butale.

Just drink a lot of water, wear light weight, light colored clothes and you should be ok. Just don't stop moving.

Thanks. Once I actually get my license in from Texas and get a few miles in on the bike so I know how to ride it without killing myself I'd be down.

I grew up in Irving, TX but I just miss SoCal. Camp Pendleton for about 5 years. It's rained more here in the past 3 months, not counting hurricane, than it did there in 5 years.

Finally got the 300 from my buddies place and took it home. Got home and called my dad cause you know how they are. Once I got off the phone, I put another 15 miles on it just cause I could. If anyone says that a 250/300 is to slow in the city and has no acceleration they need their head checked.
