BT-003RS longevity

How many miles or sessions are you getting out of your set of tires?

We put a new set BT003R 120 front and BT003RS 140 rear on and ran the following on it:

8 hour Endurance Race
6 session race school (20 minutes each)
7 session trackday (teaching in beginner level, 20 minutes each)
7 session trackday (riding, 20 minutes each)
2 hour Endurance Race
3 Sprint races (8 laps each)
... around 17 hours total (about 1,000 miles).

Next set, we ran:

3 hour Endurance Race
7 session trackday (teaching in beginner level, 20 minutes each)
6 hour Endurance Race
2 hour Endurance Race
2 hour Endurance race
5 Sprint Races (8 laps each)
... also around 17 hours total (about 1,000 miles).

Could start to feel a little slippage at the last endurance race, last hour or so.

Next year I will probably run no more than 15 hours to prevent any issues.

I see you are in Houston...ran Cresson, mini course at TWS and ECR. Endurance was CMRA races, trackdays with RideSmart.

FYI... I put a set on my wife's bike last year. She has about 2500 street-only miles on them, and they hardly show any wear.

What made you choose a 120 over a 110 for the front?

I want to get into racing since you get to put your riding skills to use and you grow better competing with other riders vs track days. Things holding me back is finances at the moment along with school.

We wanted a good, sticky, DOT Competition front, and of the manufacturers we wanted, and the compounds we wanted, and the prices we wanted, nobody had a 110. So, we went with the 120 and then setup the bike to handle with the 120 on it. With a well setup bike (suspension, etc) we found that the 120 front gave us a good feeling of stability without compromising turning ability that we had with the 110s.

The front is a DOT competition Type 4 (soft). The Type 3 carcass has a pointier profile, and for me it seems it handles a lot like the 110, but it is a little harder. We opted for the softer compound as it is stickier, but I really liked the V shaped profile.

Front $115 120/60/17
Rear $126 140/60/17
Motorcycle superstore

If you get them from John over at SCCRC, He'll install and balance with purchase of tires. I think his prices are pretty awesome.

I've been buying my BT-003RS from www.jcmotors.com, they're located Irvine, Ca.

If anyone in Socal knows of cheaper prices please let me know.

Front $93 Rear $103

If you buy from them, call them first to see if they are in stock. It usually takes them 1-2 days to get them from the warehouse.

I got my ninja for my birthday/xmas last year so i've had it only a year and only bought one set. I have to buy another set before my next day out and I believe it will cost 2 and change. Yes it is a perk and Jon you know why.

The first time I bought them was in July for the same price .... Their "Summer Sale"

Then I bought another front at the same price ... Their "Fall Sale"

I'm guessing after Jan 1, it will be their "New Year Sale"

My bike came with a 120/150 set of 003RS's and I personally logged 5300 miles on them (mostly commute, but twisties as well, no track time) plus whatever was on them to begin with. I now have a 110/140 set and have logged about 4000 miles on them (same load: mostly commute, some twisties, no track) and they're still in very good condition. I weigh about 203 pounds and I have the rear preload on 5, might make a bit of a difference, a lighter rider should easily get better mileage out of them
