Can't find a manual Cam Chain Tensioner for 2007

Hi Folks,
My cct is the stock one and it is not working correctly. I had it replaced 2 years ago and it improved things but it has gotten worse over the last year. I want to put in a manual CCT, however I am having a hell of a time trying to find one. I had the new one cleaned and replaced but it was only marginal improvement.

Not sure the difference but does anyone know if the 08-12 ones would be a direct replacement? They are easy to find.

Maybe this was covered already in some forum, but I am a newbie and was not able to find it.

Thanks a lot,
Peter

Nope, new-gen tensioner won't work. Pregen factory tensioner works fine if you pre-grease them with synthetic grease when installing.

You'll want to measure your cam-chain stretch and replace it if work out. OEM automatic or manual-tensioner won't work if cam-chain has stretched enough so that it's at end of adjustment-range.

Thank you for the information DannoXYZ. I have no idea how to check the chain stretch. The bike has 12K miles on it if that is any help (probably not). More information below...

The cct was changed with an automatic one a couple years ago and helped a little. Last year it was removed and regreased and installed and seemed to get a little better. When I start the engine cold it is most noticeable kind of a clunking sound, however when the engine is warmed up it quiets down considerably. I called a very reputable shop and the guy said that the mechanical cct is really the way to go as it can extend a little more than the automatic one.

Does this make any sense? Does anyone know where I can find a mechanical one as I see them for the 2008-2012 but not for the earlier gen which I have.

Thanks again for any help you can give me.
