I have the most expensive frame sliders...and they protect the body!!

And its called....15in carbon fiber Area P muffler . Went down for the first time today going to work. Thank God it wasn't bad at all...im fine with no bruises...just rash on the 5 week old Area P.

So ive been reading the thread about braking(wether or not to use rear brake due to the rear tire slidding out) and have been thinking to myself "geez these guys(and girls) must have lead feet because I've never done that!) Well I was pulling into work...started to slow, hit a patch of dirt, rear tire started to slide. First im thinking ok Ill just slide it out till I stop...but then the curb is fast approching. Well I almost came to a complete stop, front tire kissed the curb bike went off balance and down she goes.

First off, Im so glad I was wearing my gloves(like I always do) or I'd be missing a couple layers on my hand. I'm fine, a couple knicks off the bar end, front brake lever, and very minor scratches on the turn signal(maybe time for Protons)...and then the rash on the Area P. there a 3 minor scrapes but only one looks like it went through the clear coat and to the actually carbon fiber. Anyone know if I can somehow "buff" this stuff out?

So it took me a trip from Florida to New Jersey and a total of 3000 miles on the bike to lay it down. Moral of the story...coulda been worse if some crazy driver behind me didn't stop when I went down. Im fine(prides a little hurt) and the bike is still in pretty good condition. The Area P makes me sad but its just metal(although a very pretty piece) It makes a great, albeit expensive, frame slider to protect your plastics but id rather scratch them up and replace a fairing then have scuffs on my exhaust

Good day to you now

Good to hear that the damage isn't too bad. Sucks about the exhaust though. Maybe kerry can give you some tips of buffing it out...
