I'm all for exhausts on my vehicles! For me it's a must. I love listening to the noises they make. It's part of the experience.

I like stock exhaust on my car. Not so fond of that Scion-tC-with-a-fart-cannon ricer image...
But I'm a big fan of the Muzzy on my ninja. Really can't stand obnoxious big V twins, but loud trucks, mustangs, and Harley's are very common out here in farm country. Sport bikes are a lot more common back home. A sport bike should be a little snarly so you can appreciate the rev matched downshifts and lightning quick upshifts, but not obnoxiously loud to the point where you make people angry. Harleys and Vtwin cruisers get super farty when they're being revved, and I hate hate hate that vrrpbbbbb when they rev down between gears. Takes too long and sounds too clacky. |

When I put a pipe on my bike, I noticed I was able to shift & rev match better with the sound of the exhaust. Before putting it on all I'd hear is engine noise and with the 250s you're obviously in high rpm's a lot....hell with the stock I'd be at 10k rpms and think I'm over-revving the engine....not with my Yoshi. My 600 came with a pipe, but to me it's the pipe that should have come on stock with the bike. By no means is it obnoxiously loud, but it makes the bike sound incredible & people will know you're there if you give it even the slightest bit of throttle.

I put 40K on my stock exhaust because I didn't have money to change it..
Once I got money, I was very happy with the free-flowing can and sound... Having said that, I wish I could select "silent mode" for those time when the loudness is a nuisance... We live on the way to a drag strip, and loud cars and motorcycles returning after a test-n-tune night all hopped up on endorphin and adrenaline are freaking annoying at midnight...

Because some people have limited funds to spend on their hobby and would rather invest money in themselves as a rider rather than an accessory that offers zero advantage toward one's riding skills.

Because i dont have penis-anxiety and dont need to try to overcompensate by being too loud.
But really, the thought of making a Ninja 250 sound like it's more powerful than it is is a dumb concept. Its like driving a baby boomer's slushbox transmission Corvette (not the newer, faster ones, either) or adding a body kit to your Civic. Its just dumb. Its for people who care more about having other people think youre fast than actually being fast. My ninja isnt a literbike, it isnt a racing machine. Its a humble little motorcycle, i can accept that, and its exhaust reflects that. Besides, i added those dents and road rash to my mufflers and i consider them a trophy. |

^^^ cuz, you know, a nice pipe totally doesn't improve throttle response or anything crazy like that. I guess my penis is just too small then. Oh no. And this all from a guy with a weird bezadoowow name who thinks his crash scars are trophies...
Really though. You're claiming penis anxiety on a 250 because we have a pipe??? You'd be amazed at what your "humble little bike" actually CAN do. You may not think its a racing bike, but every aspect of the ninjette that makes it fun comes from years of racing development. |

I think you took that way too personally, dude. I dont care about the size of your dick and i dont care if you wanna switch out your exhaust for something you like better, for whatever reason you like it better.

I put on a slip-on this weekend and am glad I did.
I never really understood what all the fuss was about with the sound of a bike, but now that I really like the sound it makes riding more fun. Just one more dimension of the ride.

I agree with you. I love aftermarket pipes over stock. Weight savings of a slip on and performance on a full system (with tune) make it an obvious choice. Only problem is funds..
The Hyperflo and Akro for my 600rr are both into the $800 just for the slip on... Sigh...

I know ive already responded, but for the money i paid (around 600), an 18% gain up top, much smoother throttle responce, and a "better" sounding bike, im happy. Granted i still think suspension and brakes first was still the better choice, but the full exhaust, jet kit, and pod filter really just finished my 250 build. Its looks good, gives me more ground clearance, and saves weight. Whats there to complain about?
It doesnt make the bike that much louder, at least in comparison to my other bikes...its still the quiestest of the 3

Maybe he's a grower, not a shower.
On what criteria do you base this on? I was with one dude once and he was a giant and he was jealous of mine because he said mine just looked nicer for a bunch of reasons. |

i rocked the stock for two years. bought the area p quite core 18''. love that pipe. nice deep growl. doesnt sound remotely like the same engine. and its not loud at all. my stock exhaust on my drz400 is louder. i did ave a growler mounted for about 6 miles. very nasty. made me want to take a shower after riding. that pipe sounded like complete garbage.
