Riding into History
I've been to this show many times and it's always worth it.
The 14th Annual Riding Into History Motorcycle Concours Rider Magazine March 18, 2013 Filed under Latest News Riding Into History, one of America’s premier vintage motorcycle events, will return to the beautiful World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida, on May 17-18, 2013. Buzz Kanter, Publisher of American Iron magazine, and Dale Walksler, founder of Wheels Through Time Museum, will serve as Grand Marshals. Marina Alley will be the first woman to serve as Chair of the event. The weekend will feature the Concours d’Elegance on Saturday, with a charity ride to the event leaving from BMW Motorcycles of Jacksonville. The Grand Marshal’s Historic Lunch Ride to St. Augustine, led by Kanter and Walksler, and the Grand Marshals’ Dinner at the Legends Grill in the WGV, featuring a talk by Kanter and Walksler, will be held on Friday. All of the proceeds from Riding Into History will benefit the Jacksonville-based Wounded Warrior Project. To date, Riding Into History has raised over $275,000 for charity. The event is presented by Riding Into History Inc., a 501(c)3 not for profit organization comprised entirely of volunteer members from several motorcycle organizations, led by the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Northeast Florida (BMWNEF). The Historic Motorcycle Society (HMS), Chrome Divas, Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), BMW Outriders and the AMCA Sunshine Chapter all lend support to the event. Between 350 and 400 antique, vintage and classic motorcycles from all over the country are expected to enter the Concours, which this year honors The World of Competition Motorcycles. Thousands of spectators are once again expected to enjoy the event, which also includes exhibitors, entertainment, clubs and a variety of food. Admission is $10 at the gate for the Concours. Internationally known motorcycle artist Don Bradley will again provide the original artwork for the posters, which have become collectors’ items. Posters, t-shirts and other items are available at ridingintohistory.org and at the event. The World Golf Village is located just north of St. Augustine.
