[motorcycle.com] - International Motorcycle Show Season Wrap-Up Video

Beginning with Intermot on October 3rd, moving on to AIMExpo October 12th, and EICMA November 4th, we come to the final rounds of the moto show season, the Progressive International Motorcycle Show (IMS) leading off in Long Beach, California. For the moto-public the Progressive IMS tour has six more dates ending February 12th in Chicago. With all the new 2017 machinery to be seen, we recommend attending because the Progressive IMS is the only place you’ll find everything motorcycle under one roof.

Like most of you, the Progressive IMS is the first place we (except for editor Brasfield who attended EICMA) get to see most of the new models we’ve yet only previewed in photos. And there’s a lot of them, by our count there are more than 50 new or revised models from the major OEMs. If you haven’t been keeping tabs, here’s what we have to look forward to in 2017.

Aprilia: RSV4 And Tuono V4 1100, Dorsoduro 900, Shiver 900

BMW: R nineT Pure and Racer, R nineT Urban G/S, S1000RR and S1000XR, K1600GT, G310GS, R1200GS

Ducati: SuperSport and SuperSport S, Multistrada 950, 1299 Superleggera, Scrambler Café Racer, Scrambler Desert Sled, Monster 797, Monster 1200

Honda: CBR1000RR SP and SP2, CB1100 RS and EX, CBR650F and CB650F, Honda CRF250L Rally,

Husqvarna: Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401

Kawasaki: ZX-10RR, Ninja 650, Z900, Z650, Ninja 1000, H2, Versys-X 300

KTM: 1290 Super Adventure R And T, 1090 Adventure R, 1290 Super Duke R

Moto Guzzi: Audace Carbon, V7 III

Suzuki: GSX-R1000/GSX-R1000R, V-Strom 650 and 1000, GSX-S750/GSX-S750Z, V-Strom 250

Triumph: Bonneville T100, Street Scrambler

Vespa: Primavera and Sprint

Yamaha: FZ-09, YZF-R6

While nearly everything new for 2017 already broke cover at one of the previous shows, Honda, chose to save announcing the new Rebels, 300 and 500, for the Long Beach IMS: World Debut Of 2017 Honda Rebel 500 And Rebel 300.

If there’s one thing for certain, 2017 will be remembered as the year of the small-displacement adventure bike with BMW (G310GS), Honda (CRF250L Rally), Kawasaki (Versys-X 300), and Suzuki (V-Strom 250) joining the CSC RX3 with affordable, entry-level ADV bikes that have been all the rage in the upper divisions for the last half-dozen years. For us MO staffers, there’s a busy year ahead testing and comparing all these new mini-ADVs, as well as all the rest of the 2017 class of two-wheelers. Stay tuned, the upcoming months are going to be exciting ones!
