Whooshing sound?

When accelerating, I hear a "whooshing" sound on the clutch side of the bike. Any ideas what this could be? Is it the pump/cooling system? The sound doesn't seem to be there when the bike is on neutral and I rev the engine.

Have you checked the cooling system level?

Thanks Snake. Cooling system fluid level is fine. I am using water with Waterwetter if that makes a difference.

Ok, my next question is, What type of oil are you using? If you are using energy conserving oil like a 10W-30 then it could be making your clutch slip.

It is a bearing sound or an air flow sound?

You might have to make a sound clip so we can get a better idea.

It's not the fan for sure, nor the flux capacitor. It might be related to the gas... I have a Cali bike and I deleted the Cali emissions and Kleen air. Plugged the holes per Kkim's tutorial and replaced the Cali emissions via Vex' DIY - blue gas tank hole is replaced with a hose, a fuel filter and PCV valve. Could that be it?

P.S. video is not going to work as all you would hear would be wind noise.

Every once in a while you will hear your tank dump through the PCV I think but it's kinda noticeable. You should be able to tell that's what it is. It's quick and comes right from the area you mount it. It's the same type of deal as the "eeeeeeeeert" you get from the gas tank.

Mine more often dumps through the tank vent, wherever that is (in the lid?)
than through the PCV.. but I vaguely recall hearing mine do that too.

I'll keep an ear out for any wooshing and let you know.

The sounds always there when accelerating but not noticeable when revving the engine, while parked?

I have the same problem as well, when I accelerate I hear a whining noise similar to the gas cap squealing. When I'm at a stop its gone, and when I rev at a stop its barely noticeable, but bad when I accelerate. Anyone know what it is?

Correct. I don't hear it when parked/neutral.

Didn't notice anything yesterday and did 300mi.

I think I notice it more when it's warm out. We have a lil cold going on again at the moment. I'm sure I'll hear it again soon. Will report back.

Right now I gotta chase down a little squeak in my front wheel. Might be a few different things beside the speedo cable being that I still have some bent parts on.

Bob, the more I hear it and try to track the location of the noise (while driving as safely as possible), it to me seems to come from the PCV valve that I installed. So that is what I am going to assume for now.

sounds like you guys have something similar to what i had, the noise is a lot less but still there. Still haven't diagnosed it. I'll be free come Wednesday so diagnosis rides can commence.
