Headlight not working :(
I have a 2007 Ninja 250 and for some reason my headlight does not turn on...neither the high beam. I check the bulb and it is not burned out. Anyone know what might be the problem? Any tips is appreciated!

Really. Dumb. Question:
is the bike running when you expect the headlight to be on? It won't turn on unless the bike senses movement of the flywheel. aka, you have to start the bike to get the headlight to turn on, unlike many bikes where the headlight turns on right when you turn the key. |

Then run through each part of the wiring and connectors with a multi-meter.
here's the wiring diagram for reference: http://faq.ninja250.org/images/a/a4/...matic_-_R4.pdf |

I've been lurking for awhile, but this prompted me to finally sign up. I just had this problem about a month ago on my '91 and it was driving me crazy until I tore it all apart and checked every damn electrical connection there is on the bike. I believe around 94 they switched up some minor things in the electrical system, so hopefully this applies to your '07.
In the baby ninja, the headlight relay is inside the junction box, so if it's blown like mine was everything will work fine but your headlight. Use a multimeter to check the male connections for the 8 pin connector (the larger, copper colored ones on the upper right of the junction box). If i remember correctly, It is the topmost pair of connectors for the headlight, but could be the second from the top. Check the wiring diagram for the bike, and if you don't have one they have it on ninja250.org. If it's not that, it's possible you could have a bad diode in the rectifier, and there are guides available on how to check that as well. If it is the relay, there's probably a reason it blew. in my case, I had a short from a burned wire coming out of my rectifier. Find your short or it'll just happen again also, i believe there are at least one junction box and rectifier for sale in the classifieds of ninja250.org if you can't find any on here. DO NOT buy a vulcan 750 junction box. I did from a local guy because the internet 'confirmed' they were compatible, but they are not. I got about a mile down the road before my headlight went out again, and had to follow a truck back home in the dark while it turned on and off intermittently. Luckily he was nice and let me return it, but you might not be so lucky. FWIW, I paid something like 120 for a new one from my local dealer, so i'd go used if you feel comfortable with it. I'm pretty busy, but i'll try to get back here and offer any more advice i can! Good luck! |

Also, I checked the member map and there are a few other riders on here in the houston area... you could throw your junction box in their bike and check if their headlight's out after the swap. Then it'd be confirmed!
