Anyone create a '09 streetfighter?

My friend is rebuilding his ninja 500r into a streetfighter and wondering if I should do the same. What would be the steps into the 250 to do this? New headlight. Take off the whole front, fairings. what else?

everytime I see a "streetfighter", all I see is some smuck who rashed/crashed his bike and doesn't have the money to fix it properly. If you want to do this to a brand new bike, why did you buy a new bike to begin with? What's wrong with the bike as is?

Is this for cosmetic purposes?? if so, my vote is that it makes the bike ugly compared to what it is stock.

Have to say, based on the link you showed, I would say "pass". It isn't attractive at all. The Ninjas are one of the nicest looking bikes around. Why ruin a good thing?

Please don't the 250R, especially the 08+ is just so beautiful as it is, IMHO you will be ruining the Ninja if you do that

Question on that

IMHO, that looks like what I have seen called a "naked" or "standard" bike, its not a cruiser, its not a sport or super sport, ie "crotch rocket", or anything special, a motorcycle, like the bikes we rode in the MSF course, Honda Nighthawk 250. A base motorcycle, so to speak.

My question, why get a bike that you have do things to or remove parts from, when a bike like that is already available?

nb

I think some of them look ok, especially with two smaller headlights like the Buell Lightning.

That said I also think that in most cases it is because someone crashes the bike and doesn't want to pay to buy all the new fairings, so if you really would want to do this then I would say find a wrecked bike or use an older bike. If you take the fairings off your bike you will notice that there are some tabs and indentations along the tank that would make it obviously out of place.

I'm pretty sure 'street fighters' were born after a crash, like Kelly said. You remove the banged up fairings and patch it up with bailing wire and duct tape... and call it a street fighter to justify the fact that you're riding around on a trashed bike. Somewhere, somehow, someone did that, and they were so convincing that other sheep followed.

don't be a sheep

I like the 500 and pregen 250's as streetfighters, but it's hard to believe anyone would want to make a new 250 naked. All I get is compliments on my bike. From cruisers to liter bike riders. It's a gorgeous bike stock. Don't mess with a good thing.

A cafe racer is a beautiful thing. I totally agree. But a Ninja is not a cafe racer, was not meant to be, and should not ever be. That's the great thing about these bikes. They aren't 600's. They aren't Standards. They aren't cruisers. They are Kawasaki Ninja 250's.

That is a great looking bike. What countries does Kawi sell that version in, or is it just a fantasy photoshop? Only link I could find online was this one.

Actually, I think if one done something with the fairings, so it didn't just look like a Ninja with no fairings, then it could look quite good, the like the picture above.

Someone created one that looked like that? Kawi sold a Z750 that looked sort of like that, but there's nothing in their catalog that looks exactly like that.

that is a pretty bad ass lookin sv, but i think the '07 sv 650 already had a street fighter look to it with the exposed headers.

true, they've always had a streetfighter look, and this one isn't too far off from stock i suppose, but it is different enough to look a hell of a lot cooler than most other SVs i've seen.

i think the biggest problem trying to get a 250 to look like that is the motor. the SV motor looks pretty cool.. like a ducati or something.

When I think of 'Streetfighter' all I can see is;

Why do they call these types of modded bikes 'Streetfighters' anyway?

probably cause they've been beat up by squids on the street that needed a good name for their trashed rides

According to Wikipedia: A streetfighter is a superbike that is customized by removing the fairing, and making other changes that result in an overall more aggressive look.

As a former Buell rider, they do look cool, but unless you love being wind whipped, go with the fairings.

However, I've seen my bike with the fairings off... not too impressive.
