Aftermarket fairings

I am slowly looking at rebuilding by ninjette after my crash and have been taking my time after I got a quote from my kawasaki dealer for the plastics. I was checking out ebay today and they have some pretty awesome aftermarket fairing kits. the whole kit would cost about what just the right hand panel was gonna cost me. And the + side is they have unique designed ones too, like flames etc, I am wondering coz I couldn't find any old threads, Has anyone been down this road before and how was it, Can we trust them.

Damn a whole set of shark skinz would run you +1k. I have been checking out the fairings on ebay as well, but read a few posts that they usually don't fit correctly and the colors are way off. I don't want to spend a few hundred and end up not being able to put it on the bike.

If anybody has any experience with ebay fairings, please let us know about it and post pics. Thanks.

I've heard some really bad things about those chinese ebay fairings, I'd stay far away.

I think solo moto parts is having a 2 for 1 sale on hotbodies fairings, maybe you could get someone to split it with you and get half off. Airtech streamlining makes some nice stuff too, if you don't mind painting it.

Hey urban, I don't think they have the 2 for 1 anymore. I can't find it on their website.

I'll make sure to let you know if I come across something, especially, locally since we're both in nyc.

I'm starting to entertain the idea of using abs cement, sandpaper and paint the fairings myself. Definitely cheaper that way, but don't really know exactly how to do it.

There's a British bike magazine called Performance Bikes, way back in the May '96 issue they had a section in the back called "French Polish" that featured some customized '96 ZX6R's from French bike shops.

One of them had full race bodywork installed, with 4 projector headlights mounted in the nose, real simple mounting, looked like a spider's eyes.

It looked like a simple mount, maybe a hole saw, lots of measuring, and some careful aiming before final mounting.

I'll try to get some pics of it up tomorrow, my phone camera sucks at low light pictures, and I can't find any of the same bike online.

It would all be custom. Lots of work but you'd have a really unique bike. Anyone done one before?

Simpler and IMHO better looking than the ZX14, I never did like the monster bikes like the Busa, Blackbird, and SumoNinja.
