I think my frame is bent.....

So the bike I picked up a few weeks ago is starting to worry the crap out of me. The forks are bent and I just got my replacements in the mail. I haven't installed them yet. But I went ahead and lifted the tank and wanted to look at the frame again. I'm hearing if there is chipping in the paint then that could mean the frame is beat. Well I have that. But honestly I don't want to spend money on a 250 frame. Just not worth it. I'll take pics tomorrow if I can. But I'm thinking just strapping one end to a pull and the other end to my bronco and let of the brake slowly.

Frame is likely bent. Depending on how and where it is bent, you may make it worse trying to straighten it yourself - be careful and have it checked out properly if possible.

Have you called the frame straightener to see what it might cost?

Ok so I went ahead and changed the forks out to see what I came up with. Not much at all. Bent really bad. On the fence about parting out the bike, looking for a new frame, or trying to see what it cost to fix...here a few pics that had me crying like a baby

You have to be on the computer to upload multiple attachments. Uploading more than one picture at a time from mobile has never worked for me at all.

pssst! Your picture is completely upside down. That was a joke.

What price range do you think his work would be. If it's like 3-4 I can really consider

Talk to Gerry Piazza at GP Frame and Wheel in Woodland, CA. Only cost me approx $600 for him to straighten the frame, forks, and front wheel. He straightens stuff for AFM racers so you know he does good work. You'll need to strip the frame yourself though.

Ok so they have this thing called "shipping"
It works great with places that are "far away"

Follow these steps:
1.) PM @garth285 and work out compensation
2.) Garth uses "shipping" to get frame magically to you
3.) You spend some time getting to know all the pieces and parts of a ninjette
4.) you regi your florida/SF hybrid motorcycle
5.) everyone lives happily ever after

Or you could get a torch out and heat the piss out of your Bent frame and tweak that piece of tin with some big leverage tools until it is good enough for government work. maybe spend a bit of time cooling it so as to sorta temper it in a nice way. then when she rides kinda straight post it on CL lol

It's about time and money. Don't want to get to far invested in a bike that after I'm done working the frame problems I still have other issues like rearsets and headlight. Mind you I still don't even know how to ride.

I called the frame guy and he said it would start at $275 and go up from there.

Just called a shop today and the guy told me it's possible to get a frame and re stamp it with my clean vin. I'm not sure if this is an grey area and don't care. Since the bike already has 14k I would try to sell it. Just want to start riding

Reference to the matrix movies. Remember the spoon scene in the 2nd or maybe 3rd movie?

Back to my frame problem...I call a motor salvage yard the other day and he says he has an almost complete bike that could sell me for $600. Not sure what it looks like or why the reg is like. I was trying to find out it I should pick the bike and swap frames. And sell what I don't need. But now that I'm thinking about it. If the bike he has frame is good why not just reg that bike. So I will look into it....

I ask would he be able to get a clean title being a salvage yard he said no....that got me wondering

I mean, it's a salvage title. There's nothing wrong with buying a second junker bike as a donor to get enough parts to make one complete bike in running shape. People do that all the time.

I will check but he said it wasn't salvage title. So the fees might be crazy. And besides the frame the bike wouldn't have much on it. It has no fairings and the one of the rearsets is broken. I already have forks.... I will check back and see how much with out the motor.

so i called the salavage yard today. and they checked the reg for me and it would out cost $113 to handle which is cheaper then the bike i have not. he said the motor is bad but the frame is goo and the forks is good. it also has some fairings. and i can work with him to get more. he said he would also throw in the rearsets as well. so im might go for it
