[visordown.com] - Tubeframed CBR125R coming

The current CBR125R

And the CBR300R

HONDA’S existing CBR125R has become something of the odd-man-out in the looks department, with the new (and now delayed) CBR300R gaining twin-headlight styling in line with the CBR500R, 600RR and 1000RR.

It’s also out of sync when it comes to the chassis, as it still uses the steel beam frame of the previous generation bike, while the 250R, 300R and 500R use tubular steel designs.

But now we understand that Honda’s next-generation CBR125R will come into line with its siblings, gaining CBR300R-alike twin-headlight styling and a tubular frame derived from the one used by the CB150R Streetfire naked bike already on sale in markets like Indonesia.

The engine is expected to remain basically unchanged as it’s already the same unit in the Streetfire, albeit with reduced capacity.

Whether or not a naked version, effectively the same as the Streetfire, joins the CBR125R in the European market remains to be seen.

It’s understood a naked version of the CBR300R is already a certainty, with designs for the bike having been revealed through patent applications earlier this year.
