Here is the rack I bought and used on my 2007 for a couple of years ($105+$13 shipping = $118):

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/twist...FUuXOgodqHoA3A

You can add any box of any size as long as it brings a plate to bolt to the rack. Really pretty much ANY box will do...you just might have to bolt it down.

Here is my 2007 Ninja and what I bought and did to it:::

Now that I am thinking about it, I think I actually still have the rack that will fit 1988-2007 Ninjas with no modification needed. PM if you are interested in it with your Zip Code and Ill see how much shipping would cost and how much Id be willing to sell it for.

A word of caution DON'T EXCEED the weight limit. Most mounts are pretty flimsy. The max weight for my Givi e300 case is 3kg about 13lbs. I mounted mine to my rear seat with 2" velcro straps from Walmart and it feels more secure than the Givi mount.

how bad is the wind effect?

use the bike as a daily commuter.

now use a backpack and bag on the seat. would prefer a box to carry a suit jacket and rotor lock and light stuff. while at work, would like the locking aspect of the tail box for my helmet, jacket and gear while work.

what do you think? how bad a sail (i.e. wind catcher) is the tail box? what about the using it as a gear locker while at work - too heavy? to insecure?

any mods necessary to mount the brackets?
