No, although it might empower the squids even further (if that is possible.)

Cagers already have an unreasonably low opinion of us, and lane splitting is likely to piss them off out of a feeling of injustice. . . . Lots of guns in Texas. Most held by reasonable people, but the gun owners have their versions of squids too, and it only takes one.

that is interesting, but why punish the majority by theoretical actions of an individual?

we just passed a semi lane splitting bill in VA, no road rage or bloodshed yet.

I don't see it as something valuable to have, and I have enough cagers trying to kill me as is.

As someone hoping to move back to Texas, I hope this passes. After lane splitting regularly in LA I've found that, when done carefully, I feel safer doing it than in the general flow of traffic (at least when lane splitting makes sense, which is to say a traffic jam).

In my mind lane splitting is a very low value item to begin with.

I guess to each his own. Being originally from Texas and a promoter of lane splitting, I'd love to see it made legal there but on the other hand, I have friends that think it's the devil so...

I would definitely like to hear more on this semi-lane splitting in VA though... o.o

its only half of what was introduced into the state legislature.

it allows two motorcycles(has to be two wheeled) to ride abreast, pass each other or share a lane. you can lane split and pass a scooter with a car as well.

but there no portion that says a motorcycle can share a lane with a car.
which is true lane splitting.

i think next year they will try to introduce language to include that includes this.

Google comes up with this.

It appears that this Virginia law used to prohibit all vehicles, including motorcycles, from riding two-abreast in a lane. The change took out the phrases "including motorcycles", and it also made it explicitly legal that two motorcycles could now ride two-abreast in a lane. It still reads as if a motorcycle riding next to a car in a lane would be in violation of this law. Perhaps my google-fu isn't foolproof though, so maybe there is a different change in the law that people are talking about?

(edit: )

I'll definitely have to follow that. If you guys get it, would definitely help me choose where I'd like to go for my next base.

we have plenty of bases here with all the services.

not too bad a place to live, unless you need a big city atmosphere, then you'll have to travel to DC.
