motobriz auto chain oiler install
been wanting to try this for awhile. install went good but it's detailed. my dumb ass had the chain removed on install. this didn't help on alignment. so the first pad i used was a no go, 2nd pad worked ok. uses wind power to start the lubrication. i went with a non o ring chain to see how good the lubrication will be
don't bother saying its a sin to run a non o ring chain. i've heard it and really don't care.

i screwed up the first pad by not having the chain on. i had the pad nipple/hose to close to the chain.
the thin pad i used was actually the wrong one. i should have the thick one. in the end i was forced to use thick here is thin in wrong location

front air tube location. if ya leave in a rainy state they have a water separator that you can install inline also

Yes, I watched the video. They've severely dumbed it down. That's why I said, "oh, marketing".
Wind pressure... not the right term for this application. Loading on things (like buildings, bridges, and road signs) due to wind is how "wind pressure" is typically used. What's being used here is stagnation pressure. This is the same theory that makes a pitot tube on an airplane work for determining relative airspeed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stagnation_pressure https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitot_tube You're pressurizing the oil chamber to some small pressure over ambient, then an orifice is used on the backside to meter oil flow and maintain pressure inside the oil chamber. It's a cool idea and I like it! I see some issues with it but I think it's a great way to get oil to flow. Last futzed with by choneofakind; April 15th, 2018 at 06:10 AM. Reason: spelling. |

ya it's gimmicky but I always wanted to try one. it looks quite simple compared to some of the others on the market.

I predict the chain will stay nice and clean looking, and well lubricated, while the area around the chain like the rear wheel and left side of the rear tire, front sprocket cover, swing arm, etc., will get very dirty and well lubricated.
Edit: I did a little reading, and some users say that if an oiler is adjusted properly, the lubed tire, etc., is not a problem. I'll be interested in the test report after a thousand miles or so of use. |

That's the cool part! It's so simple!!!
A neglected O-Ring chain will run what, 12,000 miles? I assume a neglected non-o-ring chain is less than 5000 miles (never used one). So if something this simple can make those last longer, awesome! The Scott oilers are cool but they're a little more involved. They've proven the concept though. Good lubrication maintains chains. Go figure. |

You guys have it backwards! The purpose of oil is to completely coat underside of your fender and get swingarm all grimy and cake goo under your sprocket cover. The chain is just the delivery mechanism for these benefits!
