This is the only relevantly titled thread when searching for "Spark Plug Gap," so I believe this goes here:

Don't use a Harbor Freight gap tool on NGK CR8E plugs. The gap opener portion of the tool simply can't grab the ground electrode. It's like the walls are too steep and cannot grab the electrode. I even looked up a YouTube video to make sure I was doing it right. If Harbor Freight can't get that right, I do not even trust their gap measurements.

It's also telling that the round UPC sticker was touching the outside instead of being centered, which adds it's thickness to anything measured in that portion if you don't fully remove it and the adhesive. I didn't remove it because 0.03" was just before that point and my plug clearances were tighter than that. I'm glad I didn't remove the sticker because now I have to return it!

Why can't Harbor Freight at least get this stuff right?! It wasn't even that cheap (about $4).

Well, it turns out that my plugs were actually already at 0.030" and the HF tool also measured wrong. I checked it against three Autozone ones that were less than half the price and had FUNCTIONAL gap openers!
