Highway riding Noob

I just bought my first bike, a 250r and I've heard a lot of people say how bad it is on the 250's to ride on the highway because of the high RPM's I'll be at. What're your takes on this? I've seen lots of videos of people riding on the highways and the threads about 700mile rides so I figure it can't be that much of a problem Any advice is welcome!

I got two words 4 ya...TUCK IN...it'll make your highway ride much more enjoyable and less turbulent.

its all bull, they handle it just fine. Go find out for yourself.

All the above posts are correct.

Use ear plugs, because the noise from the wind is high.

I happily ride on highway everyday, no problem; these engines love high rpm's.

Thanks for the advice guys. I personally am not ready for the highway I was just questioning if my bike itself was. Thanks for all the tips!

The Ninjette is more than capable of the highway. Longer trips can get iffy comfort wise but are still doable.

I just did a trip to Georgia and back on my CBR. Same deal though, high RPM highway with limited power once you are at interstate speeds. You will get used to it in time.

Thanks! How do you like the CBR? I almost bought one and I think my brother might buy the one I almost got.

I love it. The Ninjette is definitely faster, but I love not having carbs anymore. IMO it does better as a commuter, which is what I bought it for. It's more of a torque down low bike than a high revving machine. If your brother is looking for a more sporty bike I would tell him to go for a Ninjette. Otherwise, the CBR is a great bike to learn on and own.

at 70mph i do fine myself sometimes looking for the next gear.. you will also find out how tight your helmet is at speed

change ur gearing. makes it seem alot better when crusing at high rpms. ppl do the 15T front sprocket change and helps with lowering the rpms and mpg too. def got rid of some vibration for me and less hassle with shifting on the freeway.
