strictly for looks! . I'm letting the sealant cure out and will probably attempt the install this weekend or next. I still need to order the HID kit. LOL. I'm pretty busy too. I've actually been working on this for 2 weeks now. A couple hours here and there when I have time. I'll have a DIY posted soon too. I took 36 pics, so there will be a lot to see and read. I may do the write up on my website due to the amount of pics needed to upload.

Wow dude, this really look sweet. I was planning on doing this mod very soon. A DIY would be great. Could you post what proyectors you'r using and which hid kit and where to get them?
Is the housing of those projectors chrome? I would like to get them black. I'm ready to start ordering this asap. |

I see a bunch of them and they are expensive, how much did you paid for them? Or just post the eBay link.

I'm so glad to see someone doing the HID deal properly! I'm sick of bikes and cars blinding me coming the other way because they didn't bother with the projectors. respect .

I thought about that after I sealed it. I was too excited to have everything finished then realized I should have waited. Not really a big deal. I can pull the housing apart again if I need to. Since I used the window weld instead of silicone, it shouldn't be a problem.

As for a HID kit .. I'd go with these
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ap...Raptor-HID-Kit I have them in my bike and they are awesome. I run the 35w 4500k so it looks white and 55w do run a bit hot. Thats why I only went with 35w ones. Quiet a few run the 55w on their bikes and say they have no problems. Some also suggest putting in a switch so they don't draw power while trying to start the bike. Eh I didn't and my bike starts fine. This thread on a honda cbr site is why i went with the kit so you can see a little compairison between types. http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=133338

Wow. This is starting to look crazy hardcore DIY intensive. Cant wait to see the finished product. After you're done, I wonder if the use of hindsight can simplify and compact the process.

As for a switch, I'll be installing a relay. Maybe that's what you meant? I already have a 40a relay that I pulled from my car. I used to have my car's fuel pump hotwired. haha. Quote:
They're finally shipping my kit today so I'm hoping to get it in this weekend and will be able to install it next weekend. |

DIY: HID retrofit in 2nd gen ninja
Ok, I'm not done with it yet, but figured I'd post up what I've been able to finish so far. It's done up to page 3.
http://www.audiotether.com/250RHID/250RHIDretrofit.htm Alex, could you merge the other thread into this one? Thanks! |

I thought there was already a few DIY threads on this mod? Also, it's like 4th gen, not 2nd, just an FYI.

My bad, I only see two subforums for the ninjettes and didn't know there was more. Anyhow, I didn't know other people had done retrofit DIY's and not just plain HID installations. There is a difference ya know

Yeah I saw that yesterday after I looked at their site. I have the older slim kit they made specifically for motorcycles. I haven't had a problem yet.
And yes I meant relay

So I finally found time to finish my relay wiring. Lots of solder, 3M electrical tape, and shrink wrap involved . I need to go pick up a wire loom today. I was able to fire it up and it looks great. One lens is only very slightly skewed so I'm not going to bother taking the headlight apart to fix it. I have half the fairings off already just to make the connections and do a test. Everything works great! Tonight, I'll pull off the rest of the fairings and do the install. Then I'll need to adjust the lights and put everything back together.
