250R Engine with loud Ticking/Knocking
*Update* - Took it to the garage who were gonna be doing some work on it cosmetically anyway (took a wee tumble) and they seem to think its the camchain but will open her up and have a look, fingers crossed.
2008 Ex250j, 28000 Miles/45000km https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WDR...AprST3uwzLYxWx Video of the sound. Suspicions being the valves or Cam chain/tensioner since it seems louder on the right but hoping someone with an ear for it could narrow things down. Valves and cams have higher-pitched ticking/clicking sounds. What you have sounds more like rod-knock. |

Well, depending upon how long it’s been running like that, it could be as simple as removing engine, taking it apart and replacing rod-bearings. Or if run for long time, engine is dead and only solution is new engine.
First step is to do some diagnosis and measurements. Drain oil and run through strainer and see what kind of bits it filters out. |
