Who played the best Bond?

Who is your favorite 007 actor?

I am somewhat partial to Roger Moore. That could be because he was the Bond I grew up with.

If you can't choose between two or more, it is multiple choice, so choose them all.

Craig is the only worthy successor in my book. He's doing a darned fine job. Casino Royale was superb… the followup not so much, but still miles better than some of those dreadful smirkfests from the 70s.

Can't wait for Skyfall.

The poll is set up to allow people to vote for multiple Bonds. Was that the intention?

Craig is the right guy. I'm too young to know the others very well so I won't bother voting.

I too grew up with Roger Moore so I am pretty partial to him myself. A license to kill was my first bond movie and I was hooked after that. I do however think Craig's bond movies are way awesome sauce!

Some people may have a hard time deciding between two (or more) of them.

Oh man what a great thread. I am a big James Bond fan. I remember a couple summers ago I rented all the movies from blockbuster. Best summer ever. Haha. I hadn't seen any of the older films until then.

Sean Connery was a great James Bond. And of course the original. So he is obviously the best. Roger Moore wasn't bad. One of my favorites. But for me, Daniel Craig was/is the perfect James Bond. Casino Royal was probably the best bond movie made. But that is just my opinion. And I am just a young lad so all the special effects and such in the older Bond films didn't really do it for me. I am sure back in the day they were just as amazing as the new Bond films. Can't wait for Skyfall.

You should also make a thread of favorite/best Bond girl.

I liked Pierce Brosnan as 007. The thing with Craig is that they've re-written the 007 character to be more intense than the 80's and even 90's. So, are we really voting for actors or the differences in 007 over the decades? Craig is definitely a great actor, but I don't think he pulls off the smoothness of 007 quite like Brosnan.

Ian Flemming wrote the original 007 character more like Daniel Craig's version than Brosnan's.

I know, but Ian Flemming isn't alive either. Things change. If we were to stick to what was originally written, most of the comic book movies we've seen today would be vastly different.

Nothing wrong with bringing back some of the extreme violence that was originally the backbone of the character.

The prudes of America would probably have a collective heart attack if they introduced the gratutuios sex that made up most of the rest of his character.

Roger Moore gets my vote, but Pierce Brosnan follows a super-close second. I for one appreciate the witty, slick, and stylish 007 of old rather than the 007 that Daniel is portraying right now. As much as I love the series, I've stopped watching it once Craig started portraying Bond. Idk, I just dont think he fits the bill

Pierce does have a smoothness about him that was unrivaled.

My favorite line was from Sean Connery:
Bond: "Who are you?"
"My name is Pussy Galore"
"I must be dreaming"

I died laughing when I heard that. Best line in a Bond movie ever.

Right, but I think you might have mistaken my meaning about the smoothness. Perhaps it's the script that doesn't allow Craig to be the suave spy, but it goes beyond that too. You can tell he's very comfortable in the action and intense scenes, but in the scenes where he's supposed to affect the suavity of 007, he comes off... kind of like a robot. Again, maybe it's a script thing and not so much his acting. I'm not complaining about the violence or the intense script. It's good to see things evolve (or in this case, close to the original).

Also, if you go back and watch some of Brosnan's 007, you'll see a lot of violence there too. Brosnan was great in his action scenes, and when it came to being the smooth spy, he was completely into it and pulled it off really well. The only other bond that was that smooth was Connery.

IMO, the best 007 has to be the complete package, not just good at one thing. No doubt, Craig is great at the action and intensity, but not as good at being smooth.

I'm partial to Brosnan, but Moore was good. I despise Connery and think Craig is a bit of a nancy boy to fit the part. He can't even drive stick.

As long as we can all agree that Dalton was the worst (considering Lazenby doesn't even count)

Sean Connery is the only Bond, although Roger Moore did a good impression.

Craig simply isn't Bond. The movies are great, they simply are not Bond movies. Craig isn't the character. He is not the smooth man who could bed any woman and kill any man without breaking stride. His character is much darker.

That's not to say they aren't good movies, that the character isn't good, it's just that it is not, and never will be, James Bond.

Did anyone else think skyfall was terrible? I didn't like the villian, and the plot its self was a huge step backwards from quantum of solace. I loved the last two movies but skyfall just didn't do it for me.

It wasn't Casino Royale but it was better than Quantum of Solace if you ask me. I really liked the ending. M is now a man and money penny is back. Can't wait for the next bond film. Oh and Adele singing Skyfall was great for the title theme song. Way better than Jack White in the last bond film.

And then there is this...

The fight in Shanghai was great, the heli scene was class & someone did their homework on how to boobytrap a house (then made a very basic mistake in it, if you know what you're doing you know where they went wrong)

My biggest gripe was the lack of use that this one got
