Questions about WERA Regulations

I was reading their rulebook and had a few questions in order to get my bike ready to their school and races.

1.Do the 250's need a steering damper? It says all bikes except minis need one. I've never seen a damper on a 250
This was pulled from the rulebook, "l) A steering damper is MANDATORY on all machines except minis and must be mounted in a safe and workmanlike manner. The damper must not overly limit the amount of stock lock-to-lock handlebar travel."

2.Also, what are brake torque arms and how do I secure them?

It also said I could tape over plastics, then said glass headlight covers needed to be removed. Should I just install race plastics instead of trying to make stock work?

2) I would say that is the brace that keeps the rear caliper from rotating respect to the swingarm when brake is applied.

You must have a damper even on a 250 or you arent turning a wheel on the track at a WERA event. Securing the brake arm is safety wiring the nuts and bolts on it. If you are a provisonal, they might let you get away with some silicone on the nuts, but just for that weekend only. No exceptions on the damper.......just mount one.

Disclaimer: I dont know if the ninjette has a torque arm,as some bikes do not have one. Someone else will have to chime in on that

I just went out and looked at my 500.....it does not have a torque arm setup so I am guessing the 250 doesnt either,so dont worry about that with WERA tech. Ive only mounted my rear once when I got the 500 at the start of this season and have done nothing else(thats why I forgot the setup) too many bikes.........

Awesome, I'm doing a DIY GSXR damper with Dime City Cycles mount, a local racer is helping me safety wire, and I'll be set to run Talladega on 10/2-10/4 hopefully.

The 250 doesn't have a torque arm. It has a plate welded to the inside of the swing arm that holds the caliper bracket from rotating.

DIY Gixxer damper is the way to go.

YOu can tape over your lights for school and races. You'll prolly want to go to a race body soon tho.

See you out there.......
