Just having a discussion with a friend about radio control Pylon Racing

https://youtu.be/jWiLvuo8r1U

This was how I learned how to race. I had a fantastic team and we worked together around the clock.
Building planes tuning engines and practicing. Our motto was “ if it’s not pylon. It’s crap” after a Mike Myers Saturday night live sketch.

Sorry, been working all weekend. Saturday was a long day, too, 9am-11:30pm.

Saw the Space-X launched from Vandenberg. Saw the flame from the rocket, then it turned blue, and the first stage separated and went back to Vandenberg. Main rocket's exhaust turned blue and kept going until it went out in space. Was pretty cool.

Wow! Despite having to work all weekend, sounds like it was very exciting!
I am disappointed that I never got a chance to see the Space Shuttle take-off or land but I hope I get the chance to watch Space X!

Yeah, it was kind of cool. I don't always remember to look for the rocket launches, but last night I managed to remember. It was visible for about 10 minutes.

Wow!!!! I don’t remember renewing my license being this hard! I had to show my passport, my social security card and two bills showing proof of address. I’m so glad I don’t have to go through that again for another 6 years. Wow!!!

It's for the new "real ID" licenses. I'm dreading finding out what docs I have to dredge up. I don't always know where things are, you know? I so rarely need birth cert or SS card.... and I really hope they don't need my marriage license.

Yes it was for the “Real I’d.”
Here in Louisiana you have a choice to get the old I’d. Or the real Id. I often fly across the country so I opted for the Federaly accepred real Id. Without it I have to fly with my passport.

California's going to require it of me at some point. Until then, I'll keep my passport current.

Real ID act.

Our licenses here in VA are good for 10 years once you turn 18.

It seems looks like I gave them every identifying document and a blood sample.

It may be the beginning of a Federal government Id. Like most other Countries use.

I'm hoping my passport will bypass the need for birth cert/marriage license. Because I'm not sure what I can actually find. Passport is a Federal document, so I'm hoping.

Dang. I forget what a lot of hours it is working on a show. It's only in for two weeks, but it's already been a lot of work. Sunday- 10 hours, Monday, 10 hours, yesterday, 13 hours, today will be 10, and then it should settle down to just doing the show times, probably 4 hours a shot.

Put the sets together, hang the drops. Lots of heavy pieces, lots of hard pieces that hang. Change things because things don't have enough clearance. Figure out why this thing catches on this other thing.

I've been doing more of the one day concert set-ups and I forgot what real theater is like.

I don't even have to worry about corralling the actors and getting them ready or anything. That's a whole other category of crazy! We're doing "Shrek, the Musical" and it's looking like it will be a fun show.

Sorry, working. Noon to midnight every day this week so far, except for Tuesday which was 9am-midnight. Dealing with my cat being on house-arrest for a bit, while trying to keep the dog from peeing in the house if he can't get outside (because the doggie door is closed to keep the cat in). Need to get to the vet to get the dog's pills refilled.

My brake parts arrived, though, so once I have a chance to breathe I will be able to put the caliper back together. New brake line (steel), new seals, new pads. Will be awesome. I miss my bike but I would have not had a lot of time to ride anyway, due to scheduling and timing and days that I have been brain-fogged.

it's pretty frickin windy out here. have a warning until 2am I think. I moved my car alongside Takara in hopes it will provide some protection. Have the twinplex wall on the other side. suppposed to be cold in the morning but as long as it's not still windy, I plan on riding. was too sick last weekend. I figured if I could barely pick up a work ladder, there was no way I could hold up a bike.

From last Sunday to today, I will have worked 72 hours.

Plan for today- pick up brake fluid and the lube for the caliper pins, hopefully put that all together tonight after work and go riding again. Only one show today, done by 6pm.

Yep. We only work when there's a show in, and that's not regular. Most of us have more than one job or venue we work with.

Indeed, for the actors.

The salutation for crew should probably involve coffee, free food, or alcohol.

I've actually looked up a lot of the "things everybody knows about theater" and it's surprising how many of them are kind of vague. There's not a real definitive orgigin story for the Green Room or for "break a leg." There are several, all claiming authenticity. Most of it comes out of Vaudeville, in some fashion, or at least from the Vaudeville era, but how is sketchy.

made a new winter home for one of my cats. she has given me her approval, after inspecting the new dwelling. still need to side it, going with rough cut pallet boards and will stain it with farmers paint.

Yeah, it's been a busy few days. No time for riding, though, unfortunately. Had a nice dinner yesterday, had a friend over, and not planning to do really anything today. At some point we need to buy fenceposts and deal with the fence on the property line, but that doesn't look like it's happening until maybe Sunday.

I may use the bike for commuting to work tomorrow. Not an exciting route or anything, but at least it would be bike time.
