How much fun would one of these be?

I totally want one, think of all the cool places you could ride with a bike like this.

Link to original page on YouTube.

I like the dude's crib and love the area he lives in

personally I'd just ride a mountain bike for that type of riding though it does remind me a bit of what a bmx bike would be like if it were an electric motorcycle

Very cool!!! Trials bikes are sweet. It seems to me like a natural transition, electric bikes for trials. Instant torque and no realistic need for charge mileage. Neat!

But keep electric bikes off the MTB trail. Just mho, but the only bikes that have a place on MTB trail are those which are propelled by eating food and drinking water. If you want to ride electric off road, head to the standard trail systems used by gasoline dirt bikes. Torque and tire spin leaves ruts and do damage to trails that bicycles will never do.

I love the bikes but I'm afraid they are way too expensive for something so specialized.

I like riding my mountain bike too, but this would be more fun to me, pedaling gets old after a while.

Yeah you're probably right, but if I had on I would want to take it everywhere, (but mostly the places where I can't take my 450 cause it draws too much attention).

As bikes like this become more common, their use on MTB trail is becoming a hot topic for debate. Head over to the MTBR.com forums and read more about it. It's an issue. Trails already see damage from MTB riders during wet conditions. Add in electric torque and the weight/speed of a motorized bike, and you'll get damage, even on trails that are in much better condition than those which are damaged by MTB riders.

However, all riders should be able to use/enjoy trails. I'm much happier seeing people enjoy nature on electric bikes than pounding through it with loads of noise and smells using standard dirt bikes. It's a balancing act.

Trials bikes = the most fun for the buck

You don't have to buy the latest and greatest to have a hell of a lot of fun.

Since all manufactures have shifted to 4stroke, there are tons of 2stroke trial bikes for sale. A 5-8 year old 2stk is in the $800-1k range. They weigh about 150 lbs and can easily be carried most anywhere. A $150 set of tires will last a new rider many seasons.

The biggest objection is usually, "It don't got no seat!". Yep that is true, but dirt track bikes "got not brakes". The banana frame is to make is really easy to balance, hop, jump, etc. I Utah we fill in the gap with a tank/seat combo; and that makes a phenomenal trail bike.

I don't understand the pedal bike v. motor bike controversy. Our trails will be marked as single track or otherwise. The Stansbury trail is a 25 mile single track that is shared by motor/pedal bikes and horses. When horses approach, we stop and shutdown until the pass. Everyone talks to everyone.

Quads have their own trails, which usually are more like the old jeep trails.

For two of my favorites, search "slick rock trail, Moab" and "5 miles of Hell, Moab". There is also a 200 mile trail system in SW Utah called, "Piaute Trails".

Here's a good place to start: http://www.riderdestinations.com/utah-atv-trails/

I probably sound like a commercial, but I have ridden most of these and they are all good cheap fun. Camping is available on everyone of them.

Now go get dirty,
Cheers,

My friends and my twin brother and I play Mario Kart 64 Battle Mode regularly. We usually play on the Wii Virtual Console for the higher resolution, though we've gone back to playing on a real N64 the past two months (started with four smooth and tight controllers and some are already wearing out ). Anyway, the thing is, I usually play with... a gray Playstation Dual Shock controller through a GameCube controller adapter.

Any chance you played at QuakeCon2003? We may have met!

isnt weight the major issue with electric offroaders at the moment, battery life/weight tradeoff

Thresh was still active but people wouldn't shut up about Fatal1ty in 2003. Almost everyone that wasn't even playing Quake III Arena in 2003... they were playing CounterStrike (not even an id/Raven game)! I was disappointed because John Carmack wasn't even there.

I did get to play Doom 3 early and talk to Tim Willits about their release strategy. I commented that there was no way it was going to fit on a CD to which he emphatically agreed. I asked if they would be releasing on multiple CDs or if it might be the first major DVD-only game release, since any system powerful enough to run it would likely have a DVD drive. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance was the only DVD-only PC game I knew of at the time. He said it was Activision's call. They ultimately released the game on three CDs but the installer allowed you to put the contents from all three on one DVD-R if you wanted to make a single install disc. Still needed the play disc though without additional trickery.

I couldn't travel all the way to Texas for Quake back in the late '90s, but I did compete at local events like the 99X CyberFest.
