Funny sound?
I noticed a few weeks ago a funny sound coming from my bike. Actually a couple, I had not noticed them prior so I was going to ask you fine people
The first one is it sounds like the front brake is rubbing cause there is a squeaking noise but it may not be from the front brake but it sounds like it. The second one is when i start my bike and its cold i hear like a rattle sound or clicking until it warms up. Especially when the choke is on or i rev the engine. It seems to go away after it warms up but I didn't notice it prior. I started it today from a week of not riding and its 30F out side and the rattling was noticeable. It sounded like it came from the lower center of the bike. The third is what appears to be chain noise. This happens when i roll the bike. All the time. It sounds like a constant clicking noise that does not stop until the bike does. And also when i shift i hear a very noticeable noise that sounds like the chain is rubbing but its loud, like over the engine noise. I have not been riding because i'm afraid something is wrong and i dont want to damage the bike. I check the chain and all the links seemed intact and the sprockets looked fine. I put a video on youtube but It was already warmed up so i couldn't get the sound and the video is crap (i was using my phone) so i will try again with a better camera and see if i cant get the audio. Should i take it to a shop or??? I don't have a garage so i can only do so much because i cant leave my bike in peaces out in the open. . Any suggestions? http://youtu.be/Y9H3l1sq_Xo http://youtu.be/oqlMy75bynU

Sound #1 could be this:
http://www.ninjette.org/wiki/My_Bike...ont_Tire/wheel Sound #2 could be something, but if it goes away as soon as the bike is warm, it's more than likely nothing to worry about. Make sure oil level is appropriate, just to make sure. Sound #3: When was the last time you lubed your chain? How often to you lubricate it? What product(s) do you use? Chains make a little noise when rolling the bike and the engine is off, it's metal on metal and it's out in the open. But a well-lubed chain will roll as easily and as quietly as is generally possible.

I'm not sure about the tolerances or what's normal for the 250 engine just yet. But on a lot of engines, a slight knock is normal when it's cold. I know on LSx engines it's common. It's piston slap, the tolerances when cold are bigger, and when the engine warms up and the internals expand to the normal tolerances it goes away.
IANAL and YMMV |

Sound #1 could be this:
http://www.ninjette.org/wiki/My_Bike...ont_Tire/wheel --i will check the tightness tomorrow and lube the front. i was hoping it wasn't the brakes Sound #2 could be something, but if it goes away as soon as the bike is warm, it's more than likely nothing to worry about. Make sure oil level is appropriate, just to make sure. --I change the oil often and just changed it 100 miles ago but yes it does go away. --lubed the chain 150 miles ago with 75-90w oil, is there a better option? I want to clean it and lube it again because the noise but if there is a better oil i will try it. Thanks
