Break-in period.

Break-in is killing me... 4k RPM and below for the first 500 miles and 6k RPM and below from 500 to 1000 miles. 4K RPM at 6th gear places me on about 32MPH... I can't even ride the bike here in Socal streets (35mph) limits. Is it just me or what???

Ride it like you normally would. Vary the rpms and don't keep them constant so the rings can seat properly.

Use the search function and you will find a lot of good information. Two key guidelines; don't explore the red line yet and don't hold the rpm's constant. Other than that have fun, change oil frequently.

Just ride like you want to. I have yet to hear about anybody messing their bike up because they broke it in wrong.

I imagine that it would take quite a while to reach 1000 miles at 35mph or less, mostly due to how few places you can ride that slow.

I see that you're in Southern California. Due to the very low top speed in 6th gear at 4000 RPM on that bike, you're pretty much limited to parking lots unless you want to get run over.

As many have said, ride it normally. My only addition would be not to run it hard right after you start it. Let the engine warm up a bit, then you can rev it up to 9 or 10K with no fear. BE SAFE, and worry about the drivers who may pull out in front of you, turning left because they didn't "see" you.

p.s., by letting the engine "warm up" I mean by riding it gently. Not idling which I have read is not good to do for too long. You want to warm it up by putting some load on it.
