Airbox installation

I decided to clean and adjust my carburetors as my bike came with 23K miles on it and as far as I know its never been done. Removing the carbs was pretty after removing the stock airbox. I took the carbs apart and they actually looked pretty good. After putting them back together I hit the hard part of this job: re-installing the airbox. I'd get one boot seated and started to align the other one when the first one would slip off. Grrrr! I finally fixed by using a heat gun to warm up the airbox boots so that they were soft and pliable. I had had a friend help push the airbox forward while I manipulated the carbs. Success at last.
I had a fuel leak from a carb bowl so I had take the carbss off again to fix the leak. gun on them. After I adjusted the idle mixture the bike ran much better. This time I was able to re-install the airbox without assistance after using the heat I still need to synch the carbs but I want to install some tees in the vacuum lines so that it will be easier to do for the future.

I linked you to a DIY for separating your airbox from your battery box in the "what did you do to your ninjette today?" thread. It's really useful. I highly recommend it for making the carbs easier to work on

Thanks Chris, I had seen this before and I did do this after I pulled the airbox the first time. It made it much easier when I had to remove the carbs the second time to fix the a leaking bowl.
